Kick-off Show

WWE Network presents NXT TakeOver 25 pre-show. Charly Caruso welcomes us with Sam Roberts and Pat McAfee. She says the event is sold out tonight. The panel talks about how TakeOver will blow the roof off once again before running through the lineup.

Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai is discussed first after the hype video. The panel agrees that Shayna Baszler is the most dominant Women’s Champion but is all for Shirai to win the match. The NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match is discussed next. Roberts says it has Undisputed written all over it but he is feeling more like the Street Profits. McAfee is all for the Forgotten Sons. Dream vs Breeze is hyped next. Caruso deems this match as the past vs present.

Caruso reminds us of a special announcement for NXT UK. The main event match is hyped next. Adam Cole is shown entering the arena along with the Undisputed Era. Gargano is shown next. Tommaso Ciampa joins the panel and the crowd has gone berserk. Ciampa tells us he is cleared for non-contact activities. Ciampa backs Gargano to retain the title tonight. But he will have his eyes locked on the Goldie and when he makes his return, he will be the champion again.

NXT TakeOver 25 Quick Results

  • Matt Riddle beats Roderick Strong
  • The Street Profits become the new NXT Tag Team Champions by defeating The Undisputed Era, The Forgotten Sons, and Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch

NXT TakeOver 25 Main Show

The commentators welcome us to the show and we go to the first match, that is Rodrick Strong vs Matt Riddle. Strong enters first followed by Riddle. Normal entrances, nothing out of ordinary here. Only that Riddle throws his shoes over Strong.

1. Matt Riddle vs Rodrick Strong

The lights go off for a while as they start the match. Riddle tries to grab the leg before they reach a stalemate. Riddle again goes for the bromission, only for another stalemate. Strong gets better of the third time but Riddle hits the trio of Gutwrench Suplexes. The action moves to the outside where Riddle sends Strong to the barricade and hits a flying forearm. Strong wins their exchange at the apron and drops Riddle on the apron with a side suplex. Back in the ring, Strong hits a chop and some forearms before dropping Riddle on the ropes. A flurry of punches by Riddle but Strong hits a double knee backbreaker.

Strong starts working on Riddle and keeps control for some time. Riddle rolls up to get two counts but Strong soon hits a Samoan drop kind of slam to hurt Riddle’s back. Another move is countered as Riddle hits a snap suplex. A suplex, broton and penalty kick gets a nearfall for Riddle. Riddle is selling his back a bit here before hitting a flurry of kicks. Strong dodges another kick but Riddle drops him for a GTS and then a German suplex into the pin to get another nearfall. Strong hits an enziguri on the top turnbuckle and hits a superplex to get a near-fall.

They start trading strikes until Strong gets the upper hand and hits a long sequence with running forearms of strikes leading to a big slam for another close count. Riddle hits a kick, V-Trigger, and a powerbomb before the Final Flash knee for two. Strong blocks the Floating Bro with his knees and nails Riddle with a knee. Strong hits another series of moves leading to a Boston crab. Riddle counters into his own submission. Riddle lifts him and hits the Bro Derek for the pin and the win.

Winner- Matt Riddle

The NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match is next. Street Profits enter first. Lorcan and Burch enter next followed by the Forgotten Sons and the Undisputed Era duo enter last.

2. The Undisputed Era vs The Street Profits vs The Forgotten Sons vs Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch – NXT Tag Team Championship

The war begins and it’s chaos from the get-go! Bodies already on the floor while The Undisputed Era kick Montez Ford out of the ring before taking out The Forgotten Sons. O’Reilly and Fish get into a brawl with Lorcan and Burch, who take them down. Lorcan takes down both members before being kicked down himself. They dispose of both of them and go for the ladders. They bring the ladder towards the ring and Wesley Blake launches himself into the ladder. He picks up a ladder himself but Burch and Lorcan uppercut him and Cutler.

The chaos gathers outside and Angelo Dawkins splashes on everyone. The Street Profits climb the ladder but The Undisputed Era takes them down. They begin the ascent but Blake comes back to haunt them, pushing them both off the ladder and out of the ring. O’Reilly’s back hits the ladder. The Forgotten Sons use the ladder to slam it on any superstar apron-side. They place it over their heads and take out the Street Profits and The Undisputed Era. Burch and Lorcan duck down and double suplex them, with the ladder going flying away.

The chaos gathers outside and Angelo Dawkins splashes on everyone. The Street Profits climb the ladder but The Undisputed Era takes them down. They begin the ascent but Blake comes back to haunt them, pushing them both off the ladder and out of the ring. O’Reilly’s back hits the ladder. The Forgotten Sons use the ladder to slam it on any superstar apron-side. They place it over their heads and take out the Street Profits and The Undisputed Era. Burch and Lorcan duck down and double suplex them, with the ladder going flying away. The Street Profits are back in and they slam both Blake and Cutler onto the ladder.

Dawkins holds Cutler and the ladder against the ropes, with Ford trying the splash. The Undisputed Era interject and take them both out. They attack Ford on the ground and then fling him back onto the ladder. Fish defends O’Reilly, who has already absorbed punishment. Fish checks on him but O’Reilly urges him to climb. He gets close but Blake comes in and powerbombs O’Reilly onto the ladder, leading Fish to topple onto O’Reilly. Cutler begins the ascent but O’Reilly gets a leg lock.

Cutler taps out but there’s no submission, so it’s pointless. But his leg seems injured. Blake throws O’Reilly out, which prompts Fish to try and interject. Blake holds Fish and Cutler stomps on his chest. The Forgotten Sons drag their bodies up the ladder but Dawkins and Burch have them in electric chair positions. Both teams hit beautiful blockbusters and it’s carnage in and out of the ring. Jaxson Ryker comes in and starts a vicious onslaught onto everybody, clearing the ring for the Forgotten sons.

He sends Oney Lorcan onto a ladder and stands, admiring the carnage he’s caused. Montez Ford attacks him but gets elbowed down. O’Reilly tries and then Bobby Fish joins in on a 2-on-1 beatdown. The Street Profits and Burch and Lorcan join in and Jaxson Ryker gets attacked by six men at once. Ryker rolls to the ring apron and stands up, but he eats a ladder to the face by the Undisputed Era. They look to try again but Montez Ford hits a suicide dive. Oney Lorcan hits another over-the-top rope. Fish and O’Reilly slam Dawkins with the ladder. Burch takes them both down with a dropkick and starts clearing house with the ladders.

They ambush the Street Profits, who get sandwiched by the ladders. They then throw a ladder onto all 3 members of the Forgotten Sons. 2 ladders are set up below the titles. Lorcan & Burch and The Undisputed Era are brawling on top of the ladder and the crowd is going nuts. The Forgotten Sons push the ladders down and everyone goes down. The Forgotten Sons are the only ones left, but out of nowhere come the Street Profits in emphatic fashion. The Sultans of Swag take them out and there’s nobody left. Montez Ford picks up the two titles.

3. The Velveteen Dream(c) vs Tyler Breeze – NXT North American Championship Match

Dream throws his gloves on Breeze, who applauds him sarcastically. It starts off with a back-and-forth, but Breeze takes the first shot, hits a backbreaker, and sends Dream out of the ring. His suicide dive attempt is cut off by Dream who hits a double axe handle and a moonsault in quick succession. Dream goes to the top but Breeze rolls out of the ring. Breeze takes him down from the top and slams his leg on the ring post before hitting a crossbody splash. He goes for another dive off the apron but Dream cuts him off. Breeze quickly comes back and puts Dream into the calf crusher.

Dream reaches the ropes to force the break. Breeze starts to work on the leg before sending Dream out with a dropkick. As he goes out, Dream counters with a superkick and comes back into the ring for a breather. As the referee counts down, Dream goes to the outside and slams Breeze into the announce table. He picks Breeze’s phone and starts using the front camera.

Breeze is able to block the Purple Rainmaker Elbow. He traps Dream’s head against the turnbuckle and hits a Supermodel Kick followed by an Unprettier. Dream manages to kick out somehow. Breeze kicks out of a roll-up and hits the Beauty Shot. Dream rolls out of the ring to get a breather. Breeze stops the ref from counting Dream out so he can still win the title. Velveteen runs in and hits the Dream Valley Driver and the Purple Rainmaker Elbow for the pin and the win.

Winner- The Velveteen Dream

We are not getting a breather as Women’s Championship match is up next.

4. Shayna Baszler(c) vs Io Shirai – NXT Women’s Championship Match

Baszler starts with a takedown which irate Shirai. She sets up to stomp on Shirai’s elbow but the Shirai counters and slaps her in the back. Shirai goes to the top rope and Shayna yanks her down to the mat. Baszler blocks a move from the top rope. She goes to hit the wristlock twisted stomp before she starts to work on Shirai’s arm. Shirai fights out, only to run into a lariat. Shayna twists the arm once more and hits the stomp on the arm. Snap suplex is followed by a standing elbow drop before another arm lock. Shirai gets up but Baszler counters the German Suplex attempt by striking on the arm.

Third arm stomp is followed by a penalty kick. Shirai finally hits the German suplex and starts striking with the double ax handle. A 61 and missile dropkick gets her a near-fall. Baszler hits a forearm before Shirai locks in the crossface. Baszler uses her power and slams Shirai to the floor. Shirai hits an overhead kick, a springboard dropkick and a moonsault in succession. Another missile dropkick and hip attack give an upper hand to Shirai.

But just as she was going for another moonsault, Duke and Shafir enter the ringside. They could not get into the ring as Candice Le Rae follows them and unloads with a kendo stick. Shayna almost locks in Kirifuda Clutch but Shirai hits her with a palm strike. Shayna goes for the clutch once again, only for Shirai to nail her with a kick. Baszler is able to lock in the Kirifuda Clutch on her third attempt. Shirai fights as hard as she can to make it to the ropes as Baszler locks in the hold even deeper. Io Shirai is finally forced to tap out and Baszler retains.

Winner- Shanya Baszler

After the match, Io Shirai hits Baszler on the back with a kendo stick. She hits a picture-perfect moonsault and asks Candice LeRae to get her a steel chair. She places it on her chest and hits another moonsault with the steel chair. The crowd mockingly chants “You deserve it” for Shayna Baszler.

Main event time. Adam Cole enters with Josiah Williams rapping for him alongside. Gargano enters with another superhero-inspired gear.

5. Johnny Gargano(c) vs Adam Cole – NXT Championship Match

The crowd chants before they even make contact. They lock up and Gargano knocks Cole down with a shoulder. Cole returns the favor as they run the ropes and trade counters. Cole takes a breather at ringside and takes his time getting back in. Johnny Wrestling ties him up in a submission but Cole is able to escape. They exchange forearms to the face for a few seconds. Gargano takes him down with a frankestiener. They counter each other outside before Gargano hit the cannonball. Gargano then dodges enziguri and hits a double leg stomp on Cole’s arm.

Back in the ring, Gargano starts working on the arm. He hits a knee splash and then an enziguri. Cole counters on the top turnbuckle and takes Gargano down. Now, Cole is working on Gargano’s right leg. Cole hits a missile dropkick to the knee from the middle rope to continue focusing on Gargano’s knee. Gargano counters a Figure Four attempt into a small package for a two count. Cole jumps from the middle rope and Gargano counters into a powerbomb.

They again start countering each other until Gargano hits a belly-to-belly and a flat liner to get a near-fall. Cole puts Gargano on the apron where they again counter each other but Gargano manages to hit the slingshot spear. His leg is giving out. Both men on the top turnbuckle, Cole slips out and tries to hit the powerbomb but Gargano prevents it. Cole gets the last laugh there as he hits the backstabber. Cole counters Gargano’s elbow drop and hits an enziguri and a burning hammer to get a nearfall.

After fighting it out on the turnbuckle, they trade superkick after superkick. Both men end up on the outside and hit the superkicks at the same time. Both men are down outside as the referee starts to count down. They get back into the ring and Gargano spikes Cole with a slingshot DDT for two. They end up back outside the ring and Cole hits an Ushi-Garoshi. He hits another when they get back in but Gargano finds a way to kick out. Johnny brings Cole down into the Gargano Escape. Cole counters the hold and locks in the Figure Four.

Gargano reverses the pressure and Cole are forced to grab the ropes to force a break. Cole drives Gargano’s knee into the mat and then rips his knee pad off so he can stomp on the joint. As Gargano goes for the suicide dive, Cole counters with the superkick and follows it up with a Panama sunset driver. Back in the ring, Cole gets ready for the last shot but Gargano dodges it and goes for the Gargano escape which is reversed by Cole into his own Gargano escape. They again start trading strikes and then superkicks.

The crowd chants “Fight forever” as both men get to their knees and start trading punches. Cole gets turned inside out by a clothesline. They each hit a superkick before Cole hits the Last Shot for another close two counts. Cole argues with the ref about the count. He grabs a chair and the ref tries to talk him out of it. Gargano goes for a suicide dive and Cole pulls the referee into the line of fire. He superkicks the chair into Cole’s face but there is no ref to make the count. He rolls the ref back in and Cole is able to hit a modified piledriver for yet another false finish. Gargano locks him in the Gargano Escape but Cole gets out of the hold and hits the Panama Sunrise followed by the Last Shot for the pin and the win.

Winner- Adam Cole

The other Undisputed Era members came out to celebrate with Adam Cole. Bobby Fish is in a cast. The show closes as they celebrate in the ring. The crowd was hot for Cole. Some shocking results at the NXT Takeover 25.
