Io Shirai vs Mia Yim vs Bianca Belair, No. 1 Contender’s Match for NXT Women’s Championship

The no. #1 contender match for the NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler is now changed to a fatal 4-way match, taking place on NXT’s USA premiere next week.

Originally, a triple threat match was scheduled between Bianca Belair, Io Shirai, and Mia Yim for a shot at NXT Women’s Championship. However, Candice LeRae stormed into NXT General Manager William Regal’s office and took offense on Io Shirai being added to the match. Regal on his part, decided to turn the match into a Fatal 4-Way.

Regal also added that the match will turn into a 5-way contest if Rhea Ripley was able to defeat Shayna Baszler at last night’s main event. Baszler ended up winning that match by disqualification when Ripley attacked using a steel chair. Given the fact that Ripley was under attack from Jessamyn Duke and Marina Safir during the time, it is entirely possible that Regal could also add her to next week’s match.

3 more matches are announced for next week’s USA premiere of NXT apart from this one. The updated card for the match is as follows:

  • Velveteen Dream(c) vs Rodrick Strong – NXT Championship Match
  • Matt Riddle vs Killian Dain – Street Fight
  • The Undisputed Era(c) vs the Street Profits – NXT Tag Team Championship Match
  • Bianca Beliar vs Io Shirai vs Mia Yim vs Candice LeRae
