NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo: Main Event & 2 More Title Matches Set

NJPW has confirmed three championship matches scheduled for the NJPW New Beginning event in Sapporo, featuring IWGP World Heavyweight Title and IWGP Global Championship.

New Japan Pro-Wrestling revealed the main event for NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo night two on February 24 will feature Tetsuya Naito defending the IWGP World Heavyweight Title against SANADA. Naito had defeated SANADA to capture the championship at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 event.

On February 23, during night one of the event, Nic Nemeth(Dolph Ziggler) is set to challenge David Finlay for IWGP Global Championship. David Finlay clinched IWGP Global title at the NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 event after triumphing over Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay.

After the match, Finlay got into an argument and then a brawl with Nemeth who was sitting in the front row. The brawling started once again backstage during Finlay’s press conference.

Another former WWE star in Matt Riddle will be challenging Hiroshi Tanahashi for NJPW World TV Championship. Tanahashi also won the title at Wrestle Kingdom from Zack Sabre Jr. to become only the second person to hold the belt. He has since defended the title at NJPW New Year Dash 2024 event, where he secured victory against Ryusuke Taguchi.
