NJPW Announces 3 Night of Wrestle Kingdom 16 For 50th Anniversary
New Japan Pro-Wrestling has announced that Wrestle Kingdom 16 will be a three-night event on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary year for the promotion.
For the last two years, Wrestle Kingdom was taking place over two nights on 4th and 5th January. Now, NJPW is adding a third night for the 2022 event to mark its 50th Anniversary. This was confirmed during night 1 of Wrestle Grand Slam at Metlife Dome event.
NJPW was founded on 13 January 1972 by Antonio Inoki. The year 2022 marks 50 years for promotion.
The first, two nights of Wrestle Kingdom 16 will take place on 4th and 5th January 2022 at Tokyo Dome, Tokyo, Japan. The third night will air on 8 January 2021 at Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan.
No matches are confirmed for Wrestle Kingdom 16 as of yet. But, it is expected that the winner of G1 Climax 31 tournament will challenge for IWGP World Championship on night 1 of the event.
