Nakamura to Defend IC Title Against Roman Reigns at SmackDown
WWE has announced that WWE Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura will defend his title against Roman Reigns at SmackDown episode this week(18 October 2019).
The matter started when Sami Zayn took to Twitter to share his displeasure. He complained that a “generation-defining superstar” like him and Shinsuke Nakamura were drafted in the third round of the draft, but that Roman Reigns was the first-round pick. Roman took offense and invited Nakamura to face him with the title on the line.
The IC champ Nakamura accepted the challenge and invited Reigns to “his yard.” WWE also confirmed later that the King of Strong Style will face the Big Dog at SmackDown this week.
After making his return to WWE in March this year, Roman Reigns has stayed away from the title considerations. This will be his first title match for any championship since he relinquished the Universal Championship in October last year.
Shinsuke Nakamura became the Intercontinental Champion after defeating Finn Balor at Extreme Rules 2019 pre-show. He also defended the title against the Miz at Clash of Champions.
