Samoa Joe & Cedric Alexander Advance in King of the Ring
Samoa Joe and Cedric Alexander have advanced to the second round of King of the Ring 2019 tournament after winning their respective matches at RAW this week.
Samoa Joe faced Cesaro in the first match of this year’s edition of King of the Ring tournament at RAW. Cesaro tried to get the upper hand early in the match as he caught Joe with a vicious European uppercut. But soon, Joe got into the match. After putting on a nice match where Joe dominated, Cesaro was put in the Coquina Clutch and was forced to submit.
In the second match of the tournament, Cedric Alexander faced Sami Zayn in a fairly shorter match. Zayn had the control early in the match as he came out with clubbing blows and some signature moves. Alexander used his high flying action to return into the match. After a series of moves, Alexander finished off the match with a kick to kill and a lumber check to get the win.
Samoa Joe will now face the winner from the next week’s match between Ricochet and Drew McIntyre. Cedric Alexander will have to face either of the Miz or Baron Corbin in the coming weeks.
The King of the Ring tournament has returned to WWE after 4 years. This year’s tournament will again feature 8 wrestlers each from RAW and SmackDown. The winner from RAW and SmackDown leg of the tournament will face-off at Clash of Champions 2019 on 15 September. The winner of the tournament will get a World Title shot against the champion of his choosing.
