16-time WWE world champion John Cena is announced to be featured in DC Comics’ Suicide Squad 2 movie.

After months of speculations and rumors, Director James Gunn took to Twitter to announce the ensemble cast of 24 members for DC Comics’ upcoming Suicide Squad sequel. Gunn confirmed the earlier rumored names like John Cena, Thor Ragnarok Director Taika Watiti, and Idris Elba apart from Sean Gunn, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, David Dastmalchian and Daniela Melchior, among others joining the cast.

The original 2016 film starred some of the famous DC comics villains who were tasked by the U.S. government to fight crime after Superman’s death in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The first installment was a hit at the box office in 2016 with $768 million gross worldwide despite average reviews. The sequel to the movie is expected to hit theaters in August 2021.

Gunn and Warner Bros. still have not revealed which characters many of the actors will be playing. But the information out there is Idris Elba will instead be playing a new character with a daughter portrayed by Storm Reid. From the previous cast, Will Smith(Deadshot) and Jared Leto(Joker) will not be returning. However, the below members will be reprising their roles from the first movie.

  • Viola Davis as Amanda Waller
  • Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn
  • Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang
  • Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag

The sequel looks like going to be bigger than the first installment with such ensemble cast. However, James Gunn has warned us already to not get attached to them as many of them might not get out of the movie alive.
