CM Punk and Drew McIntyre got their wish as they are set to clash at WWE SummerSlam 2024 event.

Drew McIntyre was asked to come to RAW this week where Punk also returned. McIntyre apologized to the referees backstage in front of RAW General Manager Adam Pearce.

Punk also announced that he was medically cleared and called out McIntyre. As McIntyre came out, he mocked Punk once again by showing him his stolen bracelet. Punk wanted to attack McIntyre, but was held back by security before Pearce came out to announce the match between them at Summerslam.

Pearce then added another twist saying that he was looking for a referee for the match. Just then, Seth Rollins made his entrance and announced that the referee is a visionary and a revolutionary. Rollins clarified that he will be the referee for this grudge match between Punk and McIntyre.

This match is the result of a long storyline between McIntyre and Punk which started at Royal Rumble when Punk got injured on McIntyre’s hammerlock DDT. Punk cost McIntyre the World title several times, but McIntyre retaliated by attacking Punk in Chicago.

McIntyre cashed in his newly won MITB briefcase to make Damian Priest vs Rollins match a triple threat match. But, Punk once again attacked him to cost him the match. Rollins also got miffed with Punk after that incident as the stipulation meant that Rollins would not get another title shot until Priest was champion. McIntyre’s post show antics meant he was suspended from WWE. He was called back to discuss the match against Punk last week on RAW.

WWE Summerslam is set to take place on August 3, 2024, in Cleveland, OH.
