AEW Dynamite May 15, 2024 episode had many matches and segments in the build-up to Double or Nothing 2024 PPV including Mercedes Mone and Willow Nightingale in a contract signing. Kazuchika Okada defended AEW Continental Title against Dax Harwood in the main event.
AEW World Championship Swerve Strickland took on Brian Cage in a World title eliminator. The Young Bucks faced Christopher Daniels and Matt Sydal in tag team title eliminator. Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson faced Jeff Cobb and Kyle Fletcher in a tag team match while Toni Storm took on Harley Cameron.
Will Ospreay and Roderick Strong come face-to-face backstage ahead of their International title match. Hook also made his return. Check in below as we post results and updates from AEW Dynamite May 15, 2024 episode.
RESULTS & UPDATES
Blackpool Combat Club(Jon Moxley & Bryan Danielson) defeated Kyle Fletcher and Jeff Cobb in a tag team match. The show opened with Jon Moxley making his entrance through the crowd. Fletcher and Cobb attacked him at the ringside and beat him up. Bryan Danielson ran out and Blackpool Combat Club duo were able to fight back. Danielson took Cobb into the ring to start the match. After a back and forth match, Danielson took out Cobb with running before hitting an enzuigiri on Fletcher to send him to Moxley who hit a Deathrider to get the pinfall.
After the match, Konosuke Takeshita attacked Moxley and Danielson. Cobb and Fletcher also joined the attack. Takeshita challenged Moxley for IWGP World title.
TNT Champion Adam Copeland was making his entrance but was blindsided by House of Black’s Brody King and Buddy Mathews. They took him to the ring where Malakai Black also joined them. Black took the mic and asked Copeland why he was behaving unlike what he really was. He asked Mathews to remove Copeland’s wedding ring. Copeland tried to resist but was choked out by Brody. Kyle O’Reilly ran out and hit Black and Mathews at ringside, but Brody dropped him with a big lariat. House of Black hit Copeland with three-way attack in the corner, sandwiched by chairs.
The Elite were backstage where they confirmed that Eddie Kingston was out of action after they attacked him at NJPW Resurgence. They ask if Team AEW would take on them 4-on-3 in Anarchy in the Arena or forfied the match. Okada took shots at his opponent for the night, Dax Harwood.
After the break, FTR were interviewed backstage where they said they might have found their fourth team member for Anarchy in the Arena match. Harwood called Okada the Elite’s b##ch.
The Young Bucks(Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) defeated Christopher Daniels & Matt Sydal in AEW World Tag Team Title Eliminator. Sydal was thrown over the barricade in the final minute before The Young Bucks hit Daniels with The TK Driver.
After the match, The Young Bucks announced that Christopher Daniels was fired from AEW. Jack Perry, who was on the commentary during the match, poured a drink on Tony Schiavone’s head before he joined The Young Bucks on the stage.
Malakai Black appeared in a backstage promo. He had Adam Copeland’s wedding ring with him and said it was one of the things that was holding him back. Black added that if he beat Copeland, he would have to bend the knee to House of Black.
Hook defeated Sebastian Wolfee in a singles match by hitting a suplex and getting a submission in a short match.
After the match, Hook called out Chris Jericho. Jericho came out with Big Bill. He said he loved sharing a spotlight. Hook replied that Jericho could have all the spotlight when he beat him up. He asked for a shot at the FTW title. Jericho announced a match on Collision this week to find his next title challenger and Hook would also be part of it. Hook hit Jericho with the mic, but Bill took him down. Katsuyori Shibata ran out to make the save.
Swerve Strickland defeated Brian Cage in AEW World Title Eliminator. Swerve caught Cage with an attack just as he got into the ring. He focused the attack on Cage’s arm. The match went back and forth before Swerve hit the House Call to get the pinfall.
After the match, Swerve hit Cage with a steel chair. Christian Cage’s music hit and he came out to the stage. Killshot and Nick Wayne attacked Swerve from behind and hit him with a chair on his head. Christian told Swerve that he humiliated his son Nick Wayne last year near his hometown here in Washington state, so, he would humiliate Swerve now. He took out a photo of Swerve’s daughter and wiped Swerve’s blood on it. Christian said he took Swerve’s blood tonight and would take his World title at Double or Nothing.
Backstage, Hook and Katsuyori Shibata were interviewed by Renee Paquette. Shibata revealed that he would also be part of #1 contender for FTW title match. Hook was upset a bit but said he would have no problem if Shibata win the match instead of him. Samoa Joe came in and told Hook that he thought Hook was special but Jericho had put him at crossroads with Shibata in a matter of weeks. As Joe left, Hook screamed at him that he could take on him also. Shibata said Joe was too big to wear a floral shirt.
Toni Storm defeated Harley Cameron in a singles match via pinfall after hitting Storm Zero.
Will Ospreay and Roderick Strong(w/ Bennett, Taven & Wardlow) came face-to-face backstage. Ospreay said Strong had never respected him, but he had become an international star and has won titles all over the world. Ospreay then said he also did not have any respect fror Strong. Strong replied in a similar manner.
AEW TBS Women’s Champion Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Mone came out to the ring for a contract signing segment. After signing the contract, Willow said Mone did not respect the TBS title and she would not let her take it away from her. Mone replied that she was a star when Willow started training and she would become the face of TBS. Mone signed the contract and said that best part of Willow’s career had been beating her, but her own legacy was all about winning. Willow replied that she won the title last time they clashed while Mone was not able to walk at all. This led to Mone slapping Willow who put Mone through the table in response.
Kazuchika Okada(c) defeated Dax Harwood to retain AEW Continental Championship. Okada tried to use the title belt and the referee got busy in removing it. Okada then hit a low blow followed by The Rainmaker to get the pinfall.
After the match, rest of the Elite attacked Harwood. Bryan Danielson and Cash Wheeler ran out for a save but were easily dealt with. Darby Allin’s music hit and he ran through the crowd from behind with a skateboard to attack the Elite and sent them running. Darby was confirmed to join Team AEW in Anarchy in the Arena match as the show closed.
