UFC Vegas 88: Five Fights Added, Danny Silva Makes Debut
UFC has added five new matches for UFC Vegas 88 event via a press release on Tuesday, featuring a bantamweight rematch and
Gerald Meerschaert is set to go up against Bryan Barberena in a middleweight bout. Gerald Meerschaert is currently on a two-fight losing streak. He was last in action at UFC 292 event to lose to Andre Petroski via split decision. Bryan Barberena is also on a three-fight losing streak with his recent fight at UFC London event against Makhmud Muradov.
Josiane Nunes will look to continue her 9-fight winning streak in a bantamweight matchup against Chelsea Chandler. Nunes was last in action to beat Lerone Murphy via unanimous decision. Chandler recently lost to Norma Dumont to see her 5-fight winning streak come to an end.
Another bantamweight bout will see Pannie Kianzad and Macy Chiasson clash in a rematch. Kainzad and Chiasson clashed in the featherweight final of The Ultimate Fighter Heavy Hitters event in 2018 where Chiasson got the win via submission.
Kianzad is coming into this fight on the back of a defeat against Ketlen Vieira via unanimous decision. Chiasson was last seen in UFC at UFC 279 where he beat Irene Aldana. She was booked to face Ketlin Veira earlier this month, but Viera pulled out of the bout. Pannie Kianzad holds the current rank of 6 in the UFC Women’s Bantamweight rankings, while Macy Chiasson is positioned at 10.
In the featherweight division, Danny Silva is slated to take on Joshua Culibao. Silva will make his UFC debut after earning the contract via Dana White Contender Series. Joshua Culibao’s latest bout occurred at UFC London event, resulting in a defeat against Lerone Murphy to see an end to his three-fight winning streak.
Natan Levy and Mike Davis are set to face off in the lightweight division. Natan Levy is currently on a two-fight winning streak before his withdrawal from Noche UFC event against Alex Reyes. Mike Davis’s recent fight was at UFC Vegas 61, where he defeated Viacheslav Borshchev via unanimous decision. Davis’s UFC record stands for 3 wins and 1 loss.
UFC Vegas 88 event is set to take place on March 16, 2024, broadcasting live from UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. A women’s strawweight bout is also set for the event, where Cory McKenna will face Jaqueline Amorin.
