The last time UFC was in Anaheim was for UFC 270 PPV in January 2022 which was headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane. The official attendance figures for the event were 17,387 for that night.
A portion of UFC 298 ticket sale will go toward a pension fund for MMA fighters. This was mandated by a bill signed by the California State Governor which states that $1 will go towards the pension fund for MMA fighters for each ticket sold for any MMA event in the state. This will be the first UFC event in the state after the law comes into affect on January 1, 2024.
The event will see Alexander Volkanovski facing a new challenger in Ilja Topuria to defend his UFC Featherweight Championship.
