Round 1: Moicano starts with a calf kick. He goes for a high kick after this. Islam attempts a combo. Moicano replies with jabs. Islam partially lands a head kick. The referee warns Moicano to watch his fingers. Islam land a kick to the ribs. Moicano tries to hold him away. Islam lands another body kick 20 seconds later. Islam lands a left. Moicano counters a punch with swift combo which leads to Islam slipping backward. Moicano lands a jab. Islam then gets a takedown and pins Moicano to the mat at the start of the third minute. Moicano tries to punch at his head from the mat. Islam is keeping him pinned to the mat and trying to land as much shots as he can. Moicano scrambles out of it but Islam immediately puts him in front head lock and then into a D’Arce Choke to get the submission.

Official Decision: Islam Makhachev won via submission(D’Arce Choke) at 4:05 in round 1.
