United Empire vs Bullet Club War Dogs: The rivalry between United Empire and Bullet Club is as old as the inception for these factions. The tensions came to the fore during New Year Dash 2024 event where a tag team match between these teams ended in a no-contest. After the match, Ospreay issued a challenge to Bullet Club for a steel cage match, which was later made official.
Bryan Danielson vs Zack Sabre Jr.: Danielson and ZSJ were supposed to clash at Forbidden Door 2022 PPV in an AEW vs NJPW crossover match. However, Danielson pulled out due to an injury. The duo clashed at Wrestledream 2023 PPV where Danielson got the win. The came face to face at New Year Dash 2024 event in a tag team match where TMDK defeated Danielson, Jon Moxley, Kazuchika Okada and Tomohiro Ishii. After this match, ZSJ issued a challenge to Danielson for a rematch in Japan.
Kazuchika Okada vs Hiroshi Tanahashi: Okada, Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii were earlier scheduled to defend NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team titles against TMDK at this event. However, after Okada was announced to be leaving NJPW, that match was pre-poned to a Road to New Beginning event on January 24 at Korakuen Hall. Also, Okada was announced to face Tanahashi at this event.
