Yota Tsuji and Zack Sabre Jr. are the final two participants chasing the coveted trophy and Wrestle Kingdom 18 main event. While Sabre topped Block A to qualify directly, he defeated Shingo Takagi in the semifinal to get to the final. Tsuji finished at third place in Block B, which meant he had to fight Konosuke Takeshita in the group quarterfinal before beating David Finlay in the semifinal.
