Welcome to ITNWWE’s live coverage for AEW Rampage October 13, 2023 episode which was pre-taped on Tuesday.
4 matches were set for the show. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta of Blackpool Combat Club faced Gates of Agony in a tag team match. The Hardys and Brother Zay faced Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker in a trios match.
Jay Lethal was set to take on Trent Baretta in a singles match as he looked to buildup a challenge for ROH World Championship. The obligatory women’s match will see Skye Blue taking on Emi Sakura. The results from the show will be available from 10 PM ET onwards.
Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy & Brother Zay vs Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker
The match is starting as the broadcast on-air. Zay and Garcia start. Zay wins the first sequence after the lock up. Garcia gets the takedown in the second attempt and goes to dancing. Zay recovers and hits an armdrag and a dropkick before mocking Garcia with some dancing himself. Matt tags in and hits an elbow from the second rope. Jeff hits a diving splash from the second rope. Jeff tackles Garcia to the corner before Zay unloads with punches from the second rope. Garcia slips out and brings Zay down. He takes Zay to his own corner and former JAS team take over control with quick tags and moves in tandem.
Menard and Parker get in. Zay fights them off and hits springboard cutter on the ropes. Matt gets the tag and unloads on Menard and Parker. He decks Jake Hager off the apron before hitting a powerbomb on Parker. Parker turns it around in the corner and tags in Garcia. Garcia goes to dance but Menard tags off to protest the time wasting. All 3 of Menard, Garcia and Parker are in the ring. Hager tries to calm them down. The Hardys and Zay attack them from behind and clear the ring. They regroup on the floor. They take control over when Matt Hardy tries to pull Garcia back in. We cut to a break.
Matt is trying to fight back off the corner. Matt fights back in the corner and hits a lariat on Menard to bring him down. Jeff gets the hot tag and hits clotheslines and elbows on Parker from the opposite team. The usual script of inverted atomic drop, leg drop and an elbow drop follows. Everyone start getting involved in the match. Matt Hardy hits side-effect on Garcia. He hits Twist of Fate next. Jeff tags and gets to the top rope but Hager trips him. Zay jumps off Matt’s back to hits a suicide dive on Hager and Menard. Matt also hits a dive on the outside to take down Parker. Garcia counters when Zay returns to the ring, dances his heart out in anger and hits Paradigm shift to get the pinfall.
Winners – Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard & Angelo Parker
After the match, Menard is not happy with Garcia due to his dancing antics. Parker and Hager tries to talk to him but he pushes Garcia aside and leaves alone.
We get footage from Dynamite this wee where Renee Paquette was interviewing Penta El Zero Meido. Jay White and gang interrupt him and mocks Penta for not having a title. Penta replies that White is a thief for taking away AEW World title. White then challenges for a match at Dynamite next week.
After the break, Renee interviews Menard, Parker, Garcia and Hager. Menard says he can’t stand dancing. Garcia says the dancing got it done. Hager tells Menard to squash it. Menard tells them all to squash it and leaves.
Trent Baretta vs Jay Lethal
Lethal jumps on Baretta to start the match. He slams the face into the turnbuckle before some stomps. Lethal speaks to the camera about Eddie Kingston. Baretta recovers in the meantime and hits chops followed by a Meteora. Lethal sends him face-first into the turnbuckle. Sonjay Dutt talks trash to Baretta from the floor. Lethal hits a body slam before going for a figure four. Baretta hits upkicks to block it. Lethal blocks a DDT but Baretta hits him with a hurricanrana. Jarrett ducks Baretta as he comes off the ropes. Baretta avoids Lethal’s dropkick on the floor. Lethal sends him into the barricade but Baretta quickly htis back with a spear. Sonjay Dutt distracts him and eats a punch in response. Lethal takes advantage of it and sends Baretta’s knee into the steel steps. We cut to a break.
We return to see Baretta hitting a knee strike to knock Lethal off the floor. He hits a knee dive on the floor also. Baretta is clutching his knee. Back to the ring, Baretta get several two-count with different pin attempts. He hits a couple of German suplex. He blocks Lethal Injection and hits a half-and-half suplex to get a two-count. Lethal locks in a figure four. Baretta gets to the ropes. Lethal hits a superkick. Figure four is blocked and Baretta hits a rolling elbow. He lands on his feet on a suplex but that hurts his knee more. Lethal hits a superkick to the knee and follows up with Lethal Injection to get the pinfall.
Winner – Jay Lethal
We see a video from Ortiz talking about Mike Santana, and that he has given him a new purpose to hurt him. Santana walks in and asks Ortiz where he was for the 14 months he was injured and in rehab. They continue to argue. Santana proposes a match. Ortiz agrees while the continue to trash talk.
Skye Blue vs Emi Sakura
Sakura ducks the lock up. She brings Skye down before Skye starts to trade chops. Skye hits a hurricanrana. Sakura dumps her to the floor. Sakura hits an overhead chop before hitting a crossbody against the steel steps. She takes Blue back to the ring quickly to get a two-count. Sakura puts on The Romero Special for a short while. Sakura hits several chops in the corner. Skye gets her boots up in the corner before hitting a heel kick and a DDT to get a two-count. Sakura chomps off Skye’s hand to block skye-fall. Sakura hits a delayed underhook backbreaker. Skye blocks the next move and hits Code Blue to get the pinfall.
Winner – Skye Blue
We get a recap of Dynamite this week.
Blackpool Combat Club(Wheeler Yuta & Claudio Castagnoli) vs Gates of Agony(Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
Yuta and Kaun start the match. Yuta goes technical with a deep hammerlock. Kaun turns it into a side headlock takedown. Yuta gets his legs wrapped on his neck. Kaun corners Yuta. The referee calls for a break. Yuta slaps him when Kaun tries to provoke. Yuta hits a scoop slam to get a two-count. Claudio tags in for a double boot. He hits a double stomp before corner splash. Yuta tags in and Kaun whips him to the floor. Liona takes a cheap shot at Yuta before Kaun whips him in to ping pong between the apron and the barricade. The referee goes control Claudio, but Liona tackles Yuta behind his back. Liona tags in and whips Yuta into the barricade. We cut to a break.
We return to see Kaun with a head lock on Yuta. Yuta hits punches to midsection. He follows up with a German suplex. Tags to Claudio and Liona. Claudio hits lefts and rights before cornering Liona to hit several short arm lariats. He hits a lariat in the middle but Liona kicks out at one. Liona blocks the Neutralizer. Claudio goes for the swing but Liona hits upkicks. Kaun tags in and hits a lungblower. Claudio then gets a double leg takedown and goes for the swing. Yuta hits a dropkick as Claudio ends the swing. Liona breaks the pinfall.
Prince Nana gets into the ring. Claudio chases him down to the floor and to the back. Kaun hits Yuta with a pedigree for a near fall. Yuta fights both opponents with quick chops. Liona shoves at his windpipe. Gates of Agony hits a double chokeslam but Yuta kicks out again. Claudio returns to block another double team move. Claudio throws Liona out of the ring. Yuta hits a back drop suplex. Claudio hits a running uppercut on Liona on the floor. Yuta jumps of Claudio’s shoulder with a splash to get the pinfall.
