The Owen Hart Foundation Tournament returned in 2024 for both men and women divisions in AEW. During Double or Nothing 2024, AEW President Tony Khan and Martha Hart announced that the winner of these tournaments would get shots at AEW World Championship(men’s winner) and AEW Women’s Championship(women’s winner).

AEW World Championship Match: Bryan Danielson won the men’s Owen Hart Cup 2024 to earn a shot at AEW World title. Danielson had already announced in 2023 that he would retire from pro wrestling full-time when his contract would expire in the middle of 2024. After this, he lost several high-profile singles matches at PPV events. When he announced himself for The Owen Hart Cup, he vowed to “go out on top”. On July 31 Dynamite, Danielson declared that if he would not defeat Swerve at All In to win AEW World Championship, he would never wrestle again. After this, a Title vs Career stipulation was added to this match.

AEW Women’s Championship Match: Mariah May arrived in AEW in November 2023 as a superfan of “Timeless” Toni Storm. Toni was initially dismissive of Mariah, but progressively grew fond of her. She put Mariah in women’s Owen Hart Cup tournament, which Mariah ended up winning. As Toni was celebrating this win with Mariah on Dynamite July 10 episode, Mariah turned on Toni by hitting her with the belt. She smashed Toni’s shoes on her head to split it open. The following week, Mariah came out cosplaying Toni’s character and cut a scathing promo saying that it was always her intention to turn on Toni. In the following weeks, the duo were involved in several brawls.

AEW American Championship: During June 26 Dynamite episode, MJF was motivating Daniel Garcia and teased a match against him at All In. Will Ospreay interrupted them and offered Garcia a shot at International Championship. MJF was clearly not happy by being one-upped by Ospreay. Ospreay defeatd Garcia on Dynamite July 3 Dynamite episode to retain International title. Post-match, MJF came out to console Garcia, but suddenly hit him with a low blow. Ospreay ran out to make the save and forced MJF to run into the crowd. On Collision July 6 episode, MJF cut a promo dissing Garcia and Ospreay. Ospreay responded on Dynamite July 10 episode by calling out MJF. MJF instead appeared on the big screen to announce that he would challenge for International title on July 17. The match between Ospreay and MJF nearly reached the 60-minute time limit. Ospreay wanted to hit Tiger Driver 91 in desperation, but decided not to. MJF then hit Ospreay with Dynamite Diamond ring shot to get the pinfall and win the International title. On Blood & Guts special, MJF revealed a new AEW American Championship which replaced the International title, which MJF threw in the dustbin. Ospreay then came out, but MJF ran away. Ospreay pulled out the International title from the bin before announcing that their rematch would take place at All In. On July 31 Dynamite episode, Ospreay announced that he would reinstate the title as International title after winning it back at All In.

AEW TNT Championship: Darby Allin was part of Stadium Stampede match between Team AEW and Team Elite at Double or Nothing 2024, which was won by Team Elite. Later, The Blood & Guts match was also announced between Team Elite and Team AEW, but Team AEW featured different participants in Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, The Acclaimed before Darby joined in. Team Elite featured The Young Bucks, Kazuchika Okada, TNT Champion Jack Perry and Hangman Adam Page. Darby additionally challenged Perry for TNT title match at All In, but Perry refused to face him. In the Blood & Guts match, Team AEW had put Team Elite in handcuffs and doused Perry with gasoline. Darby threatened to put Perry on fire if he did not surrender and accept the title match at All In. While Perry refused, EVP Matthew Nicolas accepted Darby’s demands. On Dynamite August 14 episode, Perry and Darby brawled backstage and Perry ended up putting Darby in a coffin. After this, he announced that their match at All In would be a coffin match.

TBS Women’s Championship: Mercedes Moné retained AEW TBS Championship at Forbidden Door while also winning NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. She was interrupted by Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., who made her return for the first time since September 2023. On the following Dynamite episode, Baker challenged Moné for a title match at All In, but Moné declined facing her. Moné got Baker banned from the arena by EVP Matthew Jackson. However, Baker still tried to attack her in following weeks. Kamile attacked Baker during Blood & Gutts episode on July 24. Baker confronted Moné during AEW’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25. After this, Tony Khan booked the match between them at All In.
