The event was headlined by Alexandre Pantoja defending UFC Flyweight Championship against Kai Asakura. Asakura was actually making his UFC debut with this bout while it was Pantoja’s third title defense.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Garry Machado was an important welterweight bout in the co-main event and the same could be said about the heavyweight rematch between Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov. Bryce Mitchell was on the main card while the prelims was loaded with the likes of Anthony Smith, Dominik Reyes, Vincente Luque and Aljamain Sterling. Nate Landwehr vs Dooho Choi – Featherweight Bout

Round 1: Landwehr starts with a good punch. Dooho replies with a good combo. After 15 seconds, a big left from Dooho drops Landwehr to his knees. Landwehr gets back up quickly. Dooho resorts a leg kick as the first minute comes to close. They exchange some more strikes before Dooho ends up getting on his back. He attempts for different submissions but Landwehr defends well, but can’t get up from the ground for more than a minute. They are back to their feet at the start of the fourth minute. Landwehr attempts to jab but Dooho lands more shots. A couple of nice hooks from Dooho while Landwehr kept his hands up at the start of the final minute. He resorts to a body shot. Landwehr closes the distance and pins him against the cage. They scramble and Dooho slips in a body shot. Dooho connects another jab before the round ends. Clearly, Dooho wins this round.

Round 2: Landwehr tries to get close and attempts a knee strike but Dooho lands quick punches. Both men throw quick hands to little success. Dooho lands a leg kick. Landwehr once again gets him in a clinch against the cage. They scramble a bit before Landwehr lands an elbow. Dooho hits a punch and leg kick. Landwehr attempts a back elbow but Dooho dodges it. He gets Landwehr down and goes for a choke. He had to get in half guard quickly though. Landwehr forces him to change positions quickly before Dooho gets on his back to attempt a choke. After a minute of scramble, Landwehr manages to get on his feet, but Dooho gets a takedown once again. The final minute starts with another scramble on the ground. Landwehr manages to get up quicker this time but can’t do much until the end of the round. Another round clearly goes to Dooho.

Round 3: Landwehr starts the round with urgency which leads to a quick exchange, but Dooho gets him to the ground by the time first 30 seconds passed. Dooho gets his arms under control slowly before he starts to land punches to the face. There was not much Landwehr could do after that with both his arms trapped. Dooho made a mockery of him for more than two minutes with continuous punches. The referee finally intervened to stop the fight.

Dooho Choi won the fight via TKO(referee stoppage after punches) at 3:21 in round 3.

Bryce Mitchell vs Kron Gracie – Featherweight Bout

Round 1: Both men are cautios to start. Mitchell lands a low kick after 20 seconds. They scramble and Mitchell manages a takedown. Gracie does not let him control though. Slowly, Mitchell gets from a choke attempt into a half guard position. Gracie tries to wrap his arms around Mitchell’s head to keep him close. Mitchell keeps trying to get something. He lands a few punches to the face and then to the ribs. Mitchell slips in elbow shots in while Gracie continues to work from his back on the mat. They rest of the round ends up like that only. Mitchell dominated the round all the way.

Round 2: Gracie starts with a couple of good punches. Mitchell fires back with jabs before a leg kick. He attempts a knee strike to the face. Mitchell quickly gets him to the ground again. Mitchell throws his hands more frequently this time around. Punches to the ribs, punches to the face. Gracie tries to hit on his head to no effect. Mitchell lets it go and they return to their feet. Gracie fires a punch before Mitchell gets another takedown. This time, Mitchell goes for an armbar, but Gracie wraps his legs around Mitchell’s head. Gracie attempts an arm triangle now. Mitchell does not let his arm go. Gracie keeps working for the arm triangle and nearly gets it, but Mitchell gets on his back and lands some punches to end the round.

Round 3: Mitchell starts with good jabs, but slips when he goes for a jumping knee. Mitchell then goes for the takedown. Gracie jumps and tries to wrap his legs around Mitchell. Mitchell slams him to the mat, lands a couple of punches to the ribs and then lands a big elbow to his face. This brings in the referee to stop the bout.

Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov – Heavyweight Bout

Round 1: Gane lands a shot and evades the counter. Volkov attempts a body shot but pulls back. He lands a kick to the ribs. Gane goes for a leg kick himself but gets caught in a takedown. Volkov pins him to the mat, but can’t get the complete control. Gane works his way to his feet and pins Volkov to the cage. Volkov keeps him close to avoid any damage. They ultimately let go off the scramble and return to the middle. Gane gets a takedown this time and tries to get into a half guard. Volkov grabs his arm to stop him. He throws fists to Gane’s head. Gane lands a couple of shots. Volkov fails to get the arm triangle. Gane goes for the knee bar but he also fails. They get back to their feet. Volkov lands a kick to the body. Gane blocks a high kick. Gane lands a knee to the body but Volkov grabs his leg to take him to the mat. Gane gets the guillotine choke on out of nowhere. He keeps the choke for 20 seconds before the round comes to an end.

Round 2: Gane starts with some jabs. He ducks a big swing. Volkov lands a few jabs back at him after a few seconds. Gane lands a low kick. Volkov answers with a body kick. He lands a spinning back fist which just brushes Gane as he ducks. Gane fails to get a takedown the next second. Volkov lands a kick to the face when Gane goes for another takedown. Volkov then lands some jabs. Gane hits a body kick. Another high kick from Volkov grazes Gane. Gane lands a good punch before going for a low kick. Volkov feints a high kick before landing a straight right. Gane lands an uppercut after Volkov ducked his straight left. He blocks a knee. Gane lands an inside leg kick before a couple of jabs. Volkov lands a punch and then goes for a guillotine choke. It took more than 20 seconds for Gane to come out of it. Gane lands a low kick before Volkov lands a jab to end the round.

Round 3: Volkov starts with a jab and a body kick. Gane answers with a jab. They trade more jabs. Volkov goes for the takedown but he only gets Gane’s right leg. Gane does not let him do much. Gane then goes for his kimura lock himself. Volkov punches to Gane’s body who tries to use his leg to wrap around. He also fails to get to a proper position to submission. They were on the ground for the rest of the round attempting several different things to no result.

Shavkat Rakhmonov vs Ian Machado Garry – Welterweight Bout

Round 1: They tap hands before the started. Both men are hesitant to engage for the first 30 seconds when they botth threw a jab unsuccessfully. Rakhmonov lands a jab on the body. Garry lands a knee strike to the ribs. They get into a clinch with Garry pinned to the cage at the start of the second minute. Rakhmonov lands a knee strike to the ribs with Garry still pinned to the cage. He attempts more of the same before Garry also tries to hit some left hooks. They get away from the cage as the fourth minute starts and Rakhmonov attempts a takedown but Garry defends it well. However, he gets pinned to the cage once again. Garry tries a takedown next time they get away from the cage after a while. Rakhmonov also defends it before they get to cage again. They seperate finally with 40 seconds to go. Rakhmonov lands a big punch which forces Garry to get into a clinch once again. Rakhmonov wins this round clearly.

Round 2: Garry starts with a low kick as both men are once again very cautious to engage. Rakhmonov attempts a spinning heel kick but Garry gets back to avoid it. Garry gets his jab through in the second minute. He gets another one through but Rakhmonov replies with a better one. Rakhmonov follows up with a good punch. Rakhmonov lands another jab. Garry goes for a high kick but Rakhmonov blocks it partially. He lands a body kick partially. Rakhmonov lands a right. Garry ducks a left and pins Rakhmonov against the cage. He hits a raised knee to Rakhmonov’s face when Rakhmonov tries to break free. Rakhmonov turns around the clinch to pin Garry on the cage now. Garry lands a couple of punches to the ribs. Rakhmonov gets in a suplex position after a while. Garry continues to defend. They return to the middle with 15 seconds to go. Rakhmonov once again gets a round, but only partially though.

Round 3: Once again, the first 30 seconds go by without anything. Rakhmonov lands a body shot. He blocks a high kick before throwing a body kick. He had to block another high kick but Garry lands a couple of low kicks. Rakhmonov goes for jabs then. A low kick from Garry almost trips Rakhmonov who was looking for counter jabs. Garry ducks a big swing and lands a knee to the body. More exchanges before Garry gets into a clinch to pin Rakhmonov to the cage. Rakhmonov turns it around once again to pin Garry to the cage. Garry does not let him get control of his arms. After a spell of inactivity, the referee takes them to the center. Garry lands a high kick quickly. Rakhmonov gets away from a spinning back fist. Garry lands a few quick low kicks. He dodges a powerful looking spinning kick. Rakhmonov lands a powerful jab before Garry attempts a knee. Rakhmonov closes the round with a punch.

Round 4: Garry goes for a low kick and a body kick early in the round. Rakhmonov hurries him with a combo before hitting a body kick. Rakhmonov also hits a low kick. Garry unleashes his other leg with a combo of kicks. Garry counters a jab with a high kick attempt. Garry is getting more confident as he throws more kicks and jabs. Rakhmonov has to get into a clinch ultimately to stop his momentum. This time, Garry turns it around to pin Rakhmonov to the cage. Rakhmonov lets it go and they return to the middle. Rakhmonov then succesfully gets a takedown and gets into a half guard position. Rakhmonov tries to work from there but Garry works well to get out of there. They get into a quick exchange before Rakhmonov gets to Garry’s back. They spent the next 30 seconds like that. Rakhmonov gets another takedown which Garry tries to turn into a guillotine. They spend the rest of the round throwing strikes on the mat.

Round 5: Some strikes exchanged as the last round starts. Rakhmonov goes for another takedown but Garry gets to his back. Garry works hard to get to a body triangle position in the next 15 seconds. He then sttarts to work for a rear naked choke. This is a true test for Rakhmonov now. Garry is in complete control for almost a minute. Rakhmonov keeps struggling but does not let Garry choke him. Rakhmonov then turns around the control and gets on top of Garry after a while. They continue to scramble until the last 30 seconds of the fight. After which also they did not do much.

Alexandre Pantoja(c) vs Kai Asakura – UFC Flyweight Championship

Round 1: Pantoja starts with a calf kick and a punch. He goes for a takedown but Asakura holds his ground. Asakura lands a big left. Pantoja immediately goes for another takedown, but they were too near the cage for the takedown to complete. They scramble a bit before Pantoja completes the takedown. He can’t do much from there, however. Asakura lands a right. Pantoja counters. Asakura lands a few low kicks. Pantoja goes for quick punches but Asakura was quick to avoid him. Asakura goes for a knee. Pantoja lands another punch. Asakura also goes for his shots. Pantoja uses front kicks to keep Asakura away for a while. Asakura leaps in to close the distance and lands a punch. Asakura lands a high kick 20 seconds later. Pantoja then lands a hard low kick. Asakura goes for a combo but Pantoja lands a knee in a quick reply. A jab and a kick combo from Pantoja is followed by another punch. Pantoja lands a body kick. Some low kicks were exchanged as the round came to close.

Round 2: Pantoja starts the second round with a good jab. He lands more quick punches to force Asakura to the cage. Asakura fires back with his punches before they get into a clinch. They spend almost a minute standing near the cage. Asakura tries to get into the middle, but Pantoja takes advantage and gets to his back. Pantoja gets into a rare naked choke position slowly. Pantoja increases the pressure on the choke. The referee checks on Asakura before calling the fight.

Alexandre Pantoja won the fight via submission(rear-naked choke) at 2:05 in round 2.
