WWE SummerSlam 2025: Full Guide (Card, Results, Streaming)

WWE SummerSlam 2025

WWE SummerSlam 2025 event took place over two nights on August 2 and August 3, 2025. It aired from Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford in New Jersey area.

A rematch between John Cena and Cody Rhodes was announced for WWE Championship on Night 2. CM Punk challenged Gunther for World Heavyweight Championship on night 1.

Night 1

Tiffany Stratton(c) vs Jade Cargill – WWE Women’s Championship

Just like King of the Ring, the winner of Queen of the Ring 2025 tournament was given a Women’s World title shot at SummerSlam. Jade Cargill defeated Asuka in the Queen of the Ring final at Night of Champions. After Evolution 2025 event, it was announced that Cargill would challenge WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton at Summerslam.

Gunther(c) vs CM Punk – World Heavyweight Championship

WWE announced a Gauntlet Match on RAW July 14, 2025 episode whose winner was to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Gunther at SummerSlam. CM Punk won the match by last eliminating Bron Breakker, and set up a World title shot.

Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

Drew McIntyre returned to SmackDown on July 4 episode to mock Randy Orton for his loss in the final of King of the Ring tournament. Orton ultimately hit him with an RKO. The following week, singer Jelly Roll performed at SmackDown which was interrupted by Logan Paul. Orton confronted Logan and asked him to show some respect to Roll. However, McIntyre then hit Orton with a Claymore kick. Paul also attacked Orton but Roll intervened. At Saturday Night’s Main Event XL, Orton(w/ Roll) defeated McIntyre(w/ Paul) in a singles match. After the match, Logan once again attacked Orton and Roll intervened again but was hit with Claymore by McIntyre. Later, Roll proposed a tag team match with him teaming with Orton against McIntyre and Logan. Orton then suggested that the match should take place at SummerSlam.

Sami Zayn vs Karrion Kross

Karrion Kross had been playing mind games with Sami Zayn since the start of 2025 which ultimately led to a clash between them at Night of Champions. Zayn defeated Kross in this match. On RAW June 30 episode, Kross attacked Zayn with a pipe. The following week, Kross tried to attack Zayn with a pipe, only to be stopped by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. Kross then defeated Zayn on RAW July 21 episode by hitting Sami with a pipe once again. On July 25, WWE announced that they would clash in a rematch at SummerSlam.

Raquel Rodriguez & Roxanne Perez(c) vs Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair – WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship

In the aftermath of WrestleMania 41, Alexa Bliss offered Charlotte Flair to form a tag team. Weeks later, this team was formally created and was part of 4-way Women tag team title match at Evolution where Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez retained the title. On SmackDown July 18 episode, RAW General Manager Adam Pearce accepted Flair’s request for a tag title shot at SummerSlam.

Roman Reigns & Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed

Bron Breakker speared Roman Reigns on RAW after WrestleMania(April 21) episode when he joined Seth Rollins’ stable. This led to Roman being sidelined for months. Roman returned on RAW July 14 episode to cost Breakker in the #1 contender Gauntlet Match against CM Punk. He also attacked Bronson Reed who was interfering in the match and had attacked his cousin Jey Uso. The following week, Roman & Jey confronted Paul Heyman, Breakker and Reed in a segment which ultimately led to the announcement of a tag team match at SummerSlam.

Night 2

John Cena(c) vs Cody Rhodes – Street Fight for Undisputed WWE Championship

John Cena defeated Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 41 night 2 to win Undisputed WWE Championship. At Money in the Bank 2025 event, Cody teamed up with Jey Uso in a tag team match against Cena and Logan Paul where Cody pinned Cena for the win. Cody then won King of the Ring 2025 tournament by beating Randy Orton in the final at Night of Champions event . This gave Cody a chance to challenge for a World title at SummerSlam. WWE later confirmed that Cody would face Cena for WWE Championship at Summerslam. The two competitors met in a contract signing segment at July 18 SmackDown episode where Cena said he would not appear at SummerSlam since he was shooting for a movie. This led to a brawl between them where Cody splashed Cena through a table before getting Cena to sign the contract forcefully.

Naomi(c) vs Iyo Sky vs Rhea Ripley – Women’s World Championship

Naomi won the Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase at the namesake event. She cashed in the contract at Evolution 2025 event during Women’s World Championship match between reigning Champion Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley, and won the title. The following night on RAW, Sky confronted Naomi followed by Ripley. RAW General Manager Adam Pearce then announced a triple threat match between them for the title.

Becky Lynch(c) vs Lyra Valkyria – WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship

Becky and Lyra had a rivalry since April which stemmed from Becky turning heel on Lyra on RAW April 21 episode after they lost Women’s tag team titles. Lyra defended her Women’s Intercontinental title against Becky successfully at Backlash 2025 event. But, Becky attacked her after the match. This led to a rematch between them at Money in the Bank where Becky defeated Lyra to win the title. Lyra also beat up Becky after this match in anger. Becky then retained the title in a triple threat match against Lyra and Bayley at Evolution 2025 event. Lyra earned another shot at Becky and the title by beating Bayley in a 2-out-of-3-falls match on RAW July 14 episode.

Solo Sikoa(c) vs Jacob Fatu – Steel Cage match for WWE United States Championship

Jacob Fatu, the reigning US Champion, turned face when he attacked his brother Solo Sikoa at Money in the Bank event after months of conflicts. Solo then challenged Jacob for the title at Night of Champions where a returning Tonga Loa and debutant Tala Tonga’s interference led to Solo getting the win and the title. The storyline continued further with Jacob and Jimmy Uso fighting back against Solo’s MFT faction. On SmackDown July 18 episode, MFT’s car was crashed by an unknown driver. Jacob was cleared by police of any wrongdoing in the case before he and Jimmy laid out MFT. SmackDown Manager Adam Pearce then announced that Jacob would face Solo for the US title at SummerSlam in a Steel Cage Match.

Dominik Mysterio(c) vs AJ Styles – WWE Intercontinental Championship

AJ Styles had a rivalry with The Judgment Day in the aftermath of WrestleMania 41. He defeated members of the stable – JD McDonagh & Finn Balor – in different singles matches. Styles was supposed to challenge for Dominik Mysterio’s Intercontinental title at Night of Champions, but Mysterio was declared unfit for the match. Styles taunted him for weeks before RAW General Manager Adam Pearce threatened Dominik that he would have at relinquish the title if was not medically cleared by RAW July 21 episode. When Styles & Pearce went to the in-house doctor for an update on Mysterio, he attacked Styles from behind and declared that he was cleared. The match between them was confirmed for SummerSlam after this.

The Wyatt Sicks(Dexter Lumis & Joe Gacy)(c) vs Andrade & Rey Fénix vs DIY(Johnny Gargano & Tommaso Ciampa) vs Fraxiom(Axiom & Nathan Frazer) vs Motor City Machine Guns(Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs The Street Profits(Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) – Ladder Match for WWE Tag Team Championship

The Wyatt Sicks made a surprise return on SmackDown May 23 episode after a 5-month haitus and attacked The Street Profits and Fraxiom during their title clash. The following week, The Wyatt Sicks also attacked Motor City Machine Guns and DIY along with Fraxiom and The Street Profits. One June 13 SmackDown episode, Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of The Wyatt Sicks defeated Motor City Machine Guns to get a tag title shot. On June 27, MCMG, DIY, Fraxiom and Los Garzas attacked The Wyatt Sicks during their title match. On the July 4 episode, The Wyatt Sicks defeated Ford, Gargano, Sabin, and Berto in an eight-man tag team match which earned them another title shot. The following week, Lumis and Gacy defeated The Street Profits to win the WWE Tag Team Championship. The following week, Andrade and Rey Fenix defeated DIY, Motor City Machine Guns and Fraxiom to become the #1 contenders for the tag titles. On July 18 SmackDown, the title match ended in a no-contest after Cross pulled the referee out of the ring during a pin. A brawl ensued after the match between The Wyatt Sicks, Andrade and Fénix, DIY, Fraxiom, Motor City Machine Guns and The Street Profits. SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis then announced that The Wyatt Sicks would defend the WWE Tag Team Championship against the five other teams in a Six-Pack Tables, Ladders, and Chairs match at SummerSlam.
