Sean O’Malley registered an impressive win in the main event of UFC 292 and what makes this win even more impressive is that he entered the bout while being injured.

Joe Rogan also mentioned Suga’s injury just moments after he knocked out Aljamain Sterling with his fury of punches. Sean himself went into the details of this injury during the UFC 292 post-fight media conference.

Suga revealed that he hasn’t grappled in the last six weeks. He added that he had a muscle strain under his rib, but he was in the main event and that too in Boston and that’s why he never thought of pulling off.

As a result, any time he did an interview he said it was life or death for him because he can not get taken down. He added that if Aljo had taken him down then he couldn’t say for sure that he would be able to get up.

Suga is now kind of relieved that he went through all of that without being taken down. Sean O’Malley ended the match in the second round only.

After the match, Sean O’Malley called out for the Marlon Vera rematch in December. So, it seems like Suga’s first match as a champion will be against Vera.
