Welcome to the live results blog for WWE NXT September 5, 2023, on the road to No Mercy 2023 event.

Tiffany Stratton was set to defend NXT Women’s Championship against Kiana James. James became the #1 contender last week by winning a fatal 4-way match. Bron Breakker and Von Wagner clashed in a rematch in a no-disqualification match in the main event.

Ilja Dragunov and Oro Mensah were set for a singles match. Dragon Lee and Mustafa Ali clashed with the winner in line to face NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio, who was the special guest referee in this match. Tiffany Stratton(c) defeated Kiana James via pinfall to retain NXT Women’s Championship. Becky Lynch appears on the big screen after the match and announces that she will be challenging for the title next week in the main event.

The Creed Brothers are backstage after their return to NXT. They want to challenge for tag team titles now. Tony D’Angelo and Stacks, the champions, come in to talk with them. Other teams also come in to start an argument between the prospective challengers.

Ilja Dragunov defeated Oro Mensah after hitting a powerbomb and torpedo to get the pinfall. Wes Lee comes out after the match and tells Dragunov that he is the next in line for NXT Championship title shot. Carmelo Hayes comes out and announces a #1 contender match between Lee and Dragunov.

Dominik Mysterio tears up a WWE rulebook. He has purple striped referee shirt for his stint as the special guest referee later tonight.

Jacy Jayne has given Thea Hail a makeover where she has tried to turn her into a carbon copy. Gigi Dolin asks Jacy about her objective behind this. Thea says she does not know Jacy. Gigi says she does and warns Thea against her.

Nathan Frazer defeated Duke Hudson via pinfall to earn 2 points in NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament in Group B match.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger are in the Diamond Mine dojo now and argue with Bronco Lima and Lucien Price.

Tyler Bate defeated Dabba Kato via pinfall after a senton atomico.

North American Champion Dominik Mysterio meets NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes for some champ-to-champ talk, but it’s all self-loathing like always.

Mustafa Ali defeated Dragon Lee via pinfall after a fast count from special guest referee Dominik Mysterio. Ali decks Dominik after the match for the fast count. He will face Dominik for North American title.

Backstage, Ilja Dragunov asks Trick Williams why he lied to Carmelo Hayes that Hayes could beat him. Trick replies that Hayes has beaten him previously and can do it again.

Butch vs Axiom match in NXT Global Heritage Invitational Tournament in Group B ended in a draw. Axiom kicked out of Bitte End in the final seconds. Both men get 1 point each. Tyler Bate came out to stare down Butch.

Von Wagner is backstage where he apologizes to the announce table for what he is going to do it later tonight.

Thea Hail defeated Gigi Dolin via submission from Kimura lock. The finish came after Blair Davenport hit Gigi with Divorce Court on the outside.

Lyra Valkyrie and Kelani Jordan are talking backstage when Dana Brooke comes in thinking that Lyra is filling up Kelani’s head with useless things. Lyra and Dana argue for a while before Lyra agrees to a match against her.

Tiffany Stratton cuts a promo backstage to counter Becky Lynch and claims she will retain the title over Becky next week.

Bron Breakker defeated Von Wagner in the main event. Wagner puts Brakker through a table but Breakker hit a low blow as they return to the ring. Breakker finishes off with a spear.

After the match, Breakker set up Wagner on the steel steps and drops a step on his head right after the screen goes black.
