Thunder Rosa Close to In-Ring Return with 5-Minute Mini Match

Thunder Rosa has provided an update on her health issues, her in-ring return, and that a mini-match is part of the process for her medical clearance.

In her latest vlog update, Thunder Rosa, along with AEW doctor Michael “Doc” Sampson, shared that she is set to participate in a brief five-minute mini-match on August 12. If the match goes well, it could potentially lead to her being cleared for action shortly.

Sampson said AEW is going to Greensboro, CO, for AEW Collision episode on August 12, where this match might take place. Rosa did not clarify if this will be a dark match for the fans in attendance or some backstage arrangement.

During the blog, Rosa expressed gratitude towards Sampson for his support during her journey of recovery. Sampson also mentioned that Rosa is regularly doing her training and will be back in action very soon.

Thunder Rosa has been out of action for a year. Her last match was at AEW Dark: Elevation, where she, Hikaru Shida, and Toni Storm defeated Emi Sakura, Marina Shafir, and Nyla Rose in a six-woman tag team match.

During that time, she was the AEW Women’s Champion but had to relinquish the title on the August 24 episode of AEW Dynamite due to a back injury.

Rosa’s last successful title defense came against Jamie Hayter at the AEW Battle of the Belts III event in July 2022.
