Thunder Rosa Jamie Hayter Toni Storm AEW Women's Championship

AEW and Thunder Rosa have come to a mutual decision for Rosa to vacate AEW Women’s Championship.

The announcement came from Renee Paquette during AEW Dynamite episode of November 23, 2022. Paquette said that the decision was forced since the timeline for Thunder Rosa’s return remains unclear. It was additionally announced that the interim champion Jamie Hayter is promoted as AEW Women’s Champion now.

Thunder Rosa won the title on March 16 AEW Dynamite St. Patrick Day’s Slam edition by defeating Britt Baker DMD in a steel cage match. She was supposed to defend the title against Toni Storm at All Out 2022. However, on Dynamite August 25 episode, a weeping Rosa announced an injury and that she is unable to compete at All Out.

AEW went on to book a fatal 4-way match at All Out where Toni Storm won the interim AEW Women’s Championship. She defended the title thrice apart from participating in several title eliminator matches. Jamie Hayter defeated Storm at Full Gear 2022 to win the interim title.

AEW has also announced that Toni Storm will retroactively be considered a full-time champion now. You can check the complete list of AEW Women’s Champions here.
