Kyler Phillips will take on Raphael Assunçâo in a bantamweight bout at UFC Vegas 71 Fight Night event.

The announcement comes from Phillips’ management team Iridium Sports Agency. Marcel Dorff also confirmed the bout later after this initial announcement.

Raphael Assunçâo was last seen defeating Victor Henry at UFC Vegas 62 in October last year via unanimous decision. This win broke his run of 4 losses in a row between 2019 to 2022. He suffered losses to Marlon Moraes, Cody Garbrandt, Cory Sandhagen and Ricky Simón.

Assunçâo’s overall record in UFC is 11-5(28-9 overall). He holds wins over the names like T.J. Dillashaw, Pedro Munhez, Rob Font and current UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling to name a few.

Kyler Phillips, a former participant in LFA and California Xtreme Fighting, is currently at 4-1 in UFC(10-2 overall). He was seen in action against Marcelo Rojo at UFC 271. He was supposed to face Jack Shore in November last year, but Shore pulled out of the event due to an injury.

Phillips suffered his first UFC loss to Raulian Paiva in July 2021. He debuted in UFC with a win over Gabriel Silva before beating Cameron Else and Song Yadong at UFC 259.

UFC Vegas 71 will be the first UFC event to take place at The Virgins Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The event currently does not have a confirmed headliner bout after Jamahal Hill vs Anthony Smith bout was canceled.

Ariane Lipski vs JJ Aldrich and Mario Bautista vs Guido Cannetti are some of the other bouts likely to take place on the card.
