Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins’ first US title defense has been announced and it would be against none other than his arch-rival Matt Riddle.
During the October 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, it was announced Matt Riddle would challenge Seth Rollins for the United States Championship on the October 17 episode of WWE Raw.
It will be the third match in Rollins and Riddle’s feud and will likely mark the end of their rivalry. Riddle was granted this opportunity as he defeated the newly crowned US Champion inside the Fight Pit at WWE Extreme Rules.
Seth Rollins vs Matt Riddle was scheduled for SummerSlam this year, but the match was called off due to Riddle’s injuries. The rivalry between them got even more personal and the two finally collided at Clash at the Castle where Rollins picked up the victory.
Seth Rollins won the US title on the Oct 10 episode of Raw after Brock Lesnar attacked Lashley and weakened him before the title defense. Rollins provoked Lashley into competing despite being injured and then picked up an easy win.
Rollins submitted to Riddle inside the Fight Pit, and now it remains to be seen whether he would be able to successfully defend his title against the original bro, Riddle next week on Raw.
