Daniel Cormier will be the special guest referee in Fight Pit match match between Seth Rollins and Matt Riddle. I Quit match, Strap match, and Donny Brookhouse match are all announced for the show.

October 8, 2022: It was reported that Rollins vs Riddle fight pit match is expected to be the main event of the show. Imperium vs Brawling Brutes match is expected to open the show.

October 7, 2022: The White Rabbit video package on Smackdown mentioned Extreme Rules’ date as the date a secret will be revealed. The package had “Feed Your Head” written in different languages.

October 6, 2022: Daniel Cormier revealed that it was Seth Rollins who approached him to become the special guest referee in the Fight Pit match.

“It wasn’t really from the people in charge. It was Seth Rollins who texted me. He goes, ‘Hey, real-life fighting in the Fight Pit, and we may be in the market for a special guest referee. Would you have any interest in it?'”

October 3, 2022: Bianca Beliar and Bayley signed a contract for RAW Women’s Championship Ladder match for this event.

October 3, 2022: Finn Balor vs Edge “I Quit” match was made official by WWE.

October 1, 2022: Ariel Helwani reported that UFC Legend Daniel Cormier will be a special guest referee in Matt Riddle vs Seth Rollins Fight Pit match.

Sept 30, 2022: A tag team Donny Brookhouse match is announced between Imperium and The Brawling Brutes.

Sept 26, 2022: Edge appeared on RAW after two weeks to save Matt Riddle from a post-match attack from Judgment Day. He then challenged Finn Balor for an “I Quit” match.

Sept 26, 2022: Bianca Beliar responded to Bayley’s challenge and reminded her how she hit her with KOD from the top of a ladder at Hell in a Cell 2021. An enraged Bayley then went on to challenge Biance in a ladder match. Bianca accepted the challenge and the match was made official.

Sept 23, 2022: Drew McIntyre challenged Karrion Kross for a strap match at Extreme Rules. Kross attacked Drew after this, and got better of him after an assist from Scarlett. Kross then accepted the challenge for Strap Match.

Sept 19, 2022: Bayley announced that she will challenge for RAW Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules event.

Sept 19, 2022: After several brawls between them, Seth Rollins challenged Matt Riddle for a match. Riddle asked for Fight Pit match at Extreme Rules and Rollins accepted the challenge. More details here.

Sept 18, 2022: Liv Morgan opened as an underdog in her title match with +300 odds on Bets Online and Ronda Rousey opened as a favorite with -500.

Sept 16, 2022: Liv Morgan challenged Ronda Rousey to add Extreme Rules stipulation added to their match.

Sept 15, 2022: It was rumored that Charlotte Flair might make her WWE return at this event.

Sept 9, 2022: A fatal 5-way match is announced between Ronda Rousey vs Natalya vs Xai Li vs Sonya Deville vs Lacey Evans as the #1 contender for SmackDown Women’s Championship against Liv Morgan. Ronda Rousey won the match to setup a rematch against Live Morgan.

Sept 6, 2022: Xero News reported that this might be the last event in the Extreme Rules chronology and WWE Creative is trying to make this a memorable event.
