Seth Rollins New US Champ as Brock Lesnar Attacks Bobby Lashley
Brock Lesnar returned to WWE programming at RAW season premiere episode of October 10 to attack Bobby Lashley to likely set up a match at WWE Crown Jewel 2022 event.
Lashley was supposed to defend his WWE United States Championship against Seth Rollins on RAW this week. He came out for the match and took the mic for a pre-match promo. Lashley mentioned that he has defeated some of the best in the business like Brock Lesnar, and Rollins can have a fair attempt to win the title from him.
However, in a surprise, Brock Lesnar’s music hit and he came out to the ring. As Lashley showed off his title to Lesnar, The Beast Incarnate went on to hit him with an F5. A loud chant for “One More Time” followed from the crowd, prompting Lesnar to continue with the attack. He went on to hit a German Suplex and another F5 before putting Lashley in a Kimura lock.
The medical team and other WWE officials came out to check on Lashley as he recovered. With the match seemingly off the cards, Seth Rollins came out to the ring and started throwing insults at Lashley. Although he was not bothered initially, Lashley agreed to the match after Rollins said that he is failing as a fighting champion and as a soldier, and called him a disgrace to United States.
As the bell rang, Rollins countered a spear with a pedigree, but Lashley kicked out of the pin. After Lashley hit a spear, Rollins escaped the Hurt Lock by attacking his injured arm. Rollins then went on to hit two stomps back to back to get the pin and win the United States title.
The win for Rollins comes after he was recently defeated by Matt Riddle at Extreme Rules in a Fight Pit match. This is Rollins’ second reign as the United States Champion. His first reign came in 2015 when he defeated John Cena at SummerSlam to become both WWE Champion and United States Champion.
It was Brock Lesnar’s first appearance in WWE since SummerSlam this year. That night, Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against him in a Last Man Standing match. PWInsider broke the news earlier in the day that Lesnar will return to RAW tonight. The attack on Lashley will likely set up a match between them at Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia on November 5.
Bobby Lashley defeated Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble earlier this year to win WWE Championship after Roman Reigns attacked Lesnar during the match.
