Edge & Finn Balor Hell in a Cell Match Set at WWE WrestleMania 39
Finn Balor and WWE Hall of Famer Edge will clash in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE WrestleMania 39.
Balor challenged Edge for a match at WrestleMania two weeks back. Edge cost him a match against Gargano last week before calling out Balor to meet him face-to-face this week. Edge opened the RAW episode of March 13 and called out for Balor to face him.
Balor came out with his Judgment Day peers. Edge went on to say that he accepted Balor’s challenge. He went on to talk briefly about their rivalry and praised Judgment Day’s development despite their wayward characters. Edge then talked about how they forced him to say “I Quit” and still went on to hit Beth Pheonix with con-chair-to.
Edge hence added this rivalry could only be settled inside Hell in a Cell. Balor accepted the stipulation and added that Hell could not handle his demons. This demon part is being considered a hint toward the return of Balor’s Demon character. Demon was last seen at Extreme Rules 2021 event when he lost to Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
The storyline between Balor and Judgment Day started when Balor replaced Edge as the leader of Judgment Day as the group turned on Edge. After being sidelined for a while, Edge returned at SummerSlam to help out The Mysterios against Judgment Day. Edge and Rey Mysterio beat Judgment Day in a tag team match at Clash at the Castle 2022. Dominik hit Edge with a spear following the match to start his heel turn.
The rivalry led to an “I Quit” match between Balor and Edge at Extreme Rules 2022 where Rhea Ripley forced Edge to say I Quit when she threatened to hit con-chair-to on Edge’s wife Beth Pheonix. Edge was once again sidelined after the post-match beatdown.
Edge then returned at Royal Rumble and eliminated Balor Damian Priest from the match before Balor returned to eliminate him. Beth Pheonix also attacked Rhea Ripley during the match. This resulted in a mixed tag team match at Elimination Chamber where Edge and Beth defeated Balor and Rhea. Balor then cost Edge United States title match on RAW February 20 episode before calling him out for a match at WrestleMania 39 the following week.
