AEW Dynamite episode of January 4, 2023, will be the start of a new era for the show as AEW revamps its presentation. The show will feature 2 title matches with AEW Tag Team and TNT titles to be contested.
Bryan Danielson takes on Tony Nese, and AR Fox faces his old adversary Swerve Strickland in singles match. Chris Jericho vs Ricky Starks match rounds up singles matches. Jade Cargill tests Red Velvet’s loyalty as they take on Kiera Hogan and Skye Blue. We will also get promos from AEW World Champion MJF and Jon Moxley. Title Matches
Darby Allin gets another chance to win AEW TNT Championship from Samoa Joe. Joe is coming fresh of a systematic disintegration of Wardlow where he meticulously planned an attack on his knee and used it to his advantage during their title match. With Allin, Joe already has a huge size advantage. Does he have any specific plan for Allin also? Sting has called on Allin to prove himself once and for all. Will his passion be enough to overcome Joe size advantage? And will Wardlow stay quiet after losing to Joe?
Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal get their wish to challenge The Acclaimed for AEW Tag Team Championship. But, does the pair have enough to dethrone fan-favorite champions? How will Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt come into play?
Singles Matches
Ricky Starks agitated Chris Jericho when he refused to join Jericho Appreciation Society and went on to berate them. Jericho is already frustrated after losing a match to AEW Debutant Action Andretti. Will he take Starks lightly? Will Starks get probably the biggest win of his career by taking down Jericho?
Bryan Danielson is after MJF who has set up Bryan to face Tony Nese. While not at Bryan’s level, Nese can claim to good in technical wrestling. Will it be enough for him to upset Bryan?
AR Fox and Swerve Strickland have clashed several times in independent circuit and Lucha Underground. But, they will come face to face in AEW for the first time. Who comes on top?
Other Matches & Segments
Red Velvet will have to prove whether she stands with Jade Cargill or not as they take on former Baddies member Keira Hogan and Skye Blue. Velvet has shown her displeasure towards Cargill’s treatment of Hogan in the last few weeks. She also stopped her from attacking Hogan on the floor when Leila Gray held her back. Will this match lead to Velvet’s ouster from the Baddies?
AEW World Champion MJF has said that he will be a special attraction and will only wrestle on big events going forward. However, AEW is bring him in to open the year for a contractually obligated appearance. What will MJF say in his address to the fans?
Additionally, we will get to know what is Adam Page’s medical status. Jon Moxley will also cut a promo on him before a prospective showdown on next week’s Dynamite.
