Vincente Luque vs Rafael Dos Anjos to Headline UFC July 15 Event
A welterweight bout between Vincente Luque and Rafael Dos Anjos is expected to be the main event of UFC Fight Night on July 15, 2023.
The report comes from Guilherme Cruz via MMA Fighting. July 15 UFC event is expected to take place at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV, a week after UFC 290 PPV in Las Vegas and two weeks after UFC Vegas 76 on July 1.
Vincente Luque is currently on a 2-fights losing streak against high-ranked opponents. He has an unanimous decision going against him when he fought Belal Muhammad. He later fell to a knockout in the third round against Geoff Heal.
Prior to this, Luque was on a 4-fight winning streak, which led him to be the back-up at UFC 269 for the welterweight title fight. This streak included wins over Niko Price, Randy Brown, former champion Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa.
Former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos moved back up to welterweight division in his last fight against Bryan Barberena and got a submission win. He got two wins in his return to lightweight division since November 2020 against Paul Felder and Renato Moicano. He lost to Rafael Fiziev moving back to welterweight.
July 15, 2023 Fight Night event also has Ashlee Evans-Smith return bout set up against Ailin Perez, as well as Norma Dumont vs. Chelsea Chandler, and Walt Harris vs Josh Parisian bouts reported for the event.
