UFC is planning to book Leon Edwards’ next title defense in London too.

According to the latest reports, UFC wants to book Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington welterweight title bout for a yet-to-be-announced event in London on July 22.

Sports Illustrated reported that this decision came after the immense success of the UFC 286 event where Edwards defeated Kamaru Usman in the main event to retain the title. The crowd was cheering for Edwards, and when the screens showed Covington at the cage side, the crowd gave a good reaction.

As a result, UFC wants Leon Edwards to play the protagonist once again whereas Colby Covington will appear as the American villain.

Colby Covington served as a backup for UFC 286 headliner bout. After the event, Dana White announced that Covington would be the one to receive the title shot next

However, Leon Edwards straight up stated that he doesn’t want to fight Covington, as he doesn’t deserve a title shot. He also said that Colby didn’t fight for the last one and a half years.

So, now it will be interesting to see whether Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington will actually take place in London on July 22 or not.
