Lupita Godinez and Cynthia Calvillo are set to clash on UFC event on April 8, 2023, which might turn out to be UFC 287 PPV.
The news comes from ESPN’s Carlos Contreras Legaspi who is reporting that this will Cynthia Calvillo’s return to strawweight division.
A 13-fight veteran in UFC, Calvillo has competed in the flyweight division in his last 5 bouts. The move came after she missed weight for strawweight fights three times in UFC. The latest weight miss came before her showdown with Marina Rodriguez in December 2019. That bout ended in a majority draw.
Calvillo started her flyweight journey with a win over Jessica Eye in June 2020. However, she has last 4 bouts in a row since then. The runs includes a decision loss to Katlyn Chookagian in 2020, knockout losses to Jéssica Andrade and Andrea Lee in 2021 before another decision loss to Nina Nunes in 2022.
Lupita Godinez holds 3-3 record in UFC(8-3 overall) in his two years in UFC so far. She lost to Jessica Penne in her debut in April 2021. She got her first UFC win against Silvana Gómez Juárez in October 2021 before she replaced Sijara Eubanks just a week later to lose to Luana Carolina
Godinez then defeated Loma Lookboonmee one month later to end 2021 with 2 wins and 2 losses. She defeated Ariane Carnelossi 6 months later before another loss to Angela Hill in August 2022.
UFC 287 is reported to take place on April 8, 2023, but UFC is yet to make an announcement regarding any event on the date. Rob Font vs Adrian Yanez bout was previously reported for the same date.
