The women’s flyweight unification title bout won’t take place on April 29 anymore.

According to the latest reports, Marlen Esparza vs Gabriela Celeste Alaniz has been postponed due to visa issues. It was reported Alaniz, who is Argentinian, had some issues regarding her travel visa to the US.

Gabriela Celeste Alaniz holds the WBO women’s flyweight title whereas Marlen Esparza holds the WBO flyweight title. Now, both these have to wait a little bit more to unify these titles. The new date for this bout is yet to be announced by the promoters. But, May 27 is being targeted to reschedule this bout.

Marlen Esparza won the WBO flyweight title by defeating Ibeth Zamora Silva in June 2021. Since then, she has defended her title against the likes of Anabel Ortiz and Naoko Fujioka. Her most recent win came against Eva Guzman in August 2022.

On the other hand, Gabriele Celeste Alaniz never fought outside Argentina. So, a fight against Esparza will prove to be a tough challenge for her. She is undefeated so far and is coming off a TKO win against Debora Rengifo.

Now, it will be interesting to see which one of these women will walk away with both these titles when the unification bout happens.
