Sasha Banks Helps Bayley Retain Title Against Tamina at MITB
Bayley was able to retain her title as Sasha Banks helped her defeat Tamina Snuka at WWE Money in the Bank 2020.
The Bayley-Sasha friendship was once again in focus even before Bayley made her entrance. She was stopped at the Gorilla position by Kayla Braxton who asked whether she blames Sasha for the loss in the tag team match at recent SmackDown episode. Bayley snapped at Kayla and dispelled any doubt that she blames Sasha or that anything was wrong between them.
Tamina started the match strong to dominate the early part of the match. Bayley then caught her while returning into the ring and started working on her knees. Bayley would continue to control the match for a while. Tamina then got a series of attacks and then launched Bayley over the announce table to come back into the match.
After going back and forth for a while Tamina had hit Bayley with a superkick and covered her for the pin. That’s when Sasha entered the ring to distract Tamina. As Tamina ran after her, Sasha suckered her into an attack from Bayley. Tamina hoisted Bayley for the Samoan drop but Bayley countered it with a crucifix pin to get the win.
Earlier, Bayley managed to retain the title at WrestleMania 36 in the 5-way elimination match which also involved Sasha Banks, Naomi, Lacey Evans and Tamina. In that match, Tamina was eliminated as all the other participants combined to pin her. On the next SmackDown after WrestleMania, Tamina challenged Bayley once again for the title match. Bayley replied that she would have to beat Sasha Banks first to get the title shot.
Next week, Tamina successfully defeated Sasha Banks as Lacey Evans came out to help her against Bayley’s interferences. The story continued next week with Lacey Evans defeating Sasha Banks in the MITB qualifying match. Tamina and Evans also won the tag team match between the two teams on recent Friday Night SmackDown.
