NOTES & STORYLINES
Battle of the Belts 7 was the seventh event in the series, and the third event in the series this year. This was the first event in the series to take place outside United States.
Luchasaurus(c) vs Shawn Spears – AEW TNT Championship
Shawn Spears confronted Luchasaurus and Christian Cage backstage during Collision July 1 episode. Christian told him to walk away as they are dangerous. The following week, AEW announced that Luchasaurus would defend his title against Spears along with a promo for the match.
Toni Storm(c) vs Taya Valkyrie – AEW Women’s Championship
Taya Valkyrie was in action on AEW Rampage July 14 episode taping. Toni Storm and Saraya came out to mock her after her win. Valkyrie responded by challenging Valkyrie for a title match at Battle of the Belts. Storm accepted the challenge and vowed to embarrass Valkyrie in front of her own crowd.
Orange Cassidy(c) vs Lance Archer- AEW International Championship
Lance Archer returned to AEW with Rampage July 14 episode where he defeated Trent Baretta in a singles match. After the match, he also attacked Chuck Taylor, who was in Baretta’s corner. Archer went on to challenge Cassidy for International title match. Cassidy came out in response to accept the challenge. Archer wanted to attack Cassidy also, but his manager Jake Roberts told him to wait untill Battle of the Belts.
