As of now, it is not clear whether Maddalena will remain on UFC 290 card or not. During the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4, Joaquin Buckley expressed that he wanted to fight Maddalena at UFC 293 event. But Maddalena replied that he wanted Buckley to step in as a replacement at UFC 290 itself.
UFC 293 event is scheduled for September 9 in Sydney, Australia. It would definitely make sense if Maddalena’s fight gets rescheduled to his home country. Even his most recent fight against Randy Brown also came in Australia at UFC 284 where he won via submission.
Maddalena is currently on a 14-fight winning streak, 4 of which have come under UFC’s banner. He was signed by UFC after a win in Dana White Contender Series 2021. Apart from Randy Brown at UFC 284, he has also beaten Pete Rodriguez, Ramazan Emeev and Danny Roberts via knockout.
