A top bantamweight bout between Rob Font and Song Yadong is reportedly in work for UFC 292 PPV event.
The report comes from Marcel Dorff of Eurosport who says that the bout is in discussion between #7 ranked bantamweight Font and #8 ranked Yadong, but it is not signed at the moment.
Rob Font got back to winning ways at UFC 287 PPV this year after two losses in a row. After starting 2021 with a win over Cody Garbrandt, he lost to José Aldo in a Fight Night main event in December that year. He lost to Marlon Vera in another Fight Night headliner in April 2022. Font then defeated Adrian Yanez at UFC 287 via first-round TKO.
Song Yadong is in fine form with 4 wins in his last 5 bouts. He win 3 bouts in a row against Casey Kenney(UFC 265), Julio Arce(Fight Night Nov 2021) and Marlon Moraes(Fight Night March 2022) before a loss to Cory Sandhagen in September 2022 Fight Night headliner. He got back to winning ways by beating Cory Sandhagen in the headliner of UFC Vegas 72 this year in April.
UFC 292 is set for TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA, on August 19, 2023. Apart from headliner between Aljamain Sterling and Sean O’Malley, Zhang Weili vs Amanda Lemos women’s strawweight bout is also set as the co-main event.
