Marlon Vera vs Cory Sandhagen to Headline UFC Vegas 69
A top bantamweight clash between Cory Sandhagen and Marlon Vera will headline UFC Vegas 69 event.
UFC officially announced that Sandhagen and Vera will clash on Fight Night event on February 18, 2023, which will take place at UFC Apex in Las Vegas, NV.
Cory Sandhagen bounced back from back to back losses to beat Song Yadong at a Fight Night event on September 17 this year. His previous two bouts resulted in losses against TJ Dillashaw and Petr Yan(for interim bantamweight title).
Sandhagen currently holds #5 ranking in the bantamweight division due to his wins over the likes of Frankie Edgar, Marlon Moraes, and John Lineker among others.
Marlon Vera, 20 fights UFC veteran at just 30 years old, remains undefeated in last two years. His last loss came to Jose Aldo in December 2020. Since then, he had defeated Davey Grant and Frankie Edgar in 2021 before two main event wins over Rob Font and Dominik Cruz in 2022.
Vera is ranked at #4 in current UFC Bantamwieght rankings with 14-6 record in the promotion. He is considered the next title challenger by many fans and pundits, but UFC has not hinted on giving him a title shot yet.
