Alex Perez has a new date and new opponent for his next fight.
He is set to face Manel Kape at UFC San Antonio Fight Night event in a flyweight bout. The news comes from MMA Fighting who are reporting this bout for March 25, 2023.
Alex Perez was earlier booked for UFC 284 in Perth to face Kai Kara-France. Kara-France pulled out of the bout due to an injury just last week. Instead of putting him against a new opponent at UFC 284, UFC has decided to put him on San Antonio card.
A flyweight title challenger, Alex Perez is currently on a two-fights loss. He first fell to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 255. This was followed by some cancellations and missing weight twice before he finally returned to face Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 277.
Perez then pulled out of a bout against Amir Albazi on December 17, but he pulled out of the bout two months ahead. He was then booked to face Kai Kara-France which also got cancelled. Prior to all this, Perez has 6 wins and 1 loss in his first 7 UFC bouts.
Manel Kape is one of the busiest fighters in UFC since 2021. He lost his first two bouts under UFC before going on a 3-fights winning streak. First, a decision went against him when he faced Alexandre Pantoja in his promotional debut. He then faced Matheus Nicolau just one month later as a late replacement.
Kape defeated Ode Osbourne at UFC 265 to get his first win under UFC. Next, he defeated Zhalgas Zhumagulov in December 2021. This was followed by a bunch of cancellations before beating David Dvořák in the most recent Fight Night event on December 17.
UFC Fight Night San Antonio is scheduled for March 25, 2023, at AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX. The event also has Holly Holm vs Yana Kunitskaya, Maycee Barber vs Andrea Lee and CJ Vergara vs Daniel da Silva bouts in work.
