A new women’s bantamweight bout is being targeted to headline UFC Fight Night 225.
According to the latest reports, Mayra Bueno Silva vs Holly Holm will serve as the main event of the July 15 Fight Night event. Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting was the first one to report this news on MMA Hour.
Mayra Bueno Silva was initially scheduled to face Miesha Tate at UFC Vegas 74. However, Tate withdrew from this bout after suffering a hand injury. As a result, UFC replaced Miesha Tate with Holly Holm, and the bout was moved to UFC Fight Night 225.
Holly Holm is 3-1 in her last three fights. Her two-fight winning streak was snapped by Ketlen Vieira in May 2022. However, she rebounded from this loss by winning her most recent match against Yana Santos in March 2023.
On the other hand, Mayra Bueno Silva is maintaining an impressive three-fight winning streak. She is coming off a second-round submission win against Lina Lansberg. Before that, she defeated Stephanie Egger and Wu Yunan. Her last loss came against Manon Fiorot in October 2021.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Holly Holm will be able to start her own winning streak by breaking Mayra Bueno Silva’s winning streak at UFC Fight Night 225 on July 15 or not.
