Augusto Sakai vs Don’Tale Mayes In-Work for UFC Vegas 70
A heavyweight bout between Augusto Sakai and Don’Tale Mayes is in work for UFC Vegas 70 event.
MMA Fighting Contributor Mike Heck reported the bout to take place on February 25, 2023, at UFC Apex Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The event also goes by the name UFC Fight Night 220.
Augusto Sakai is currently on a 4-fight losing streak. His recent losses have come against surging contenders Sergey Spivak and Tai Tuivasa.
Sakai debuted with a win over Chase Sherman in 2018 after participating in Dana White Contender Series Brazil. He followed it up with 3 more wins in a row in UFC before this skid.
Don’Tale Mayes also graduated Dana White Contender Series in 2019 before suffering back-to-back losses in his first 2 UFC bouts to Ciryl Gane and Rodrigo Nascimento. Later, he picked up two wins over Roque Martinez and Josh Parisian before losing to Hamdy Abdelwahab at UFC 277.
UFC Fight Night 220 currently has Nikita Krylov vs Ryan Spann as the headliner bout.
Victor Martinez vs Jordan Leavitt and Andre Fili vs Lucas Almeida are some of the other bouts planned for the event.
