Carmella & R-Truth def. Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox to win Season 2 of Mixed Match Challenge

Carmella & R-Truth outlasted Jinder Mahal & Alicia Fox in the Mixed Match Challenge Finals to earn the No. 30 entries in the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble Matches. Mahal and Alica seemed on shaky ground from the jump, as Alicia tagged herself in before Jinder seemed to be ready, and The Singh Brothers made an ill-advised attempt to get in on Mella and Truth’s dance break that resulted in Truth clobbering both of them and clearing them from the ring. In the chaotic final minutes, Truth took down the Singh Brothers and Mahal outside the ring and Carmella reversed a roll-up into the Code of Silence for the tap out victory.

Winner: Carmella & R-Truth

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bar def. The Usos and The New Day (Triple Threat Match)

This match quickly devolved into a fast-paced brawl. The Bar dictated the pace and the makeup of the match, focusing on Woods while bulldozing The Usos off the apron at every turn to keep the affair as a standard tag team match for as long as possible. After a sneaky tag in by Jimmy Uso, Usos controlled the match for some time. Soon, The Bar and the New Day decided to keep Usos out the match with Cesaro’s uppercuts and Koffi’s Trust Fall. The match moved on as a one on one contest between Sheamus and Woods. Cesaro then tripped Woods and Sheamus delivered a Brogue Kick to win the match.

Natalya def. Ruby Riott (Tables Match)

Natalya earned a hard-fought victory and celebrated with donning her father’s (Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart) jacket. As she tried to keep Ruby in control, 2 other members of Riott squad: Morgan and Logan, tried to interfere. Between fighting with Ruby, Natalya slammed down the other two: Logan received a suplex before being slammed into the table; later Morgan received a spear and at last Logan was again body slammed to a table. Both Ruby and Natalya avoided being slammed onto the table and countered each other. Natti lay Ruby on the table. She climbs up only for Riott to cut her off. Ruby attempts a hurricanrana from the turnbuckle but Natalya counters and powerbombs her through the table to win the match.

Dolph Ziggler’s intervention helped Finn Balor to a shocking win against Drew McIntyre. McIntyre dominated almost completely in this match. Every attempt from Balor to counter went in vain as McIntyre utilized his brute strength. Bálor’s chest was welted, and his legs were wobbly after being chopped and tossed by McIntyre with ruthless impunity. As the action moved outside the ring, Ziggler blasted McIntyre with a Superkick as the referee was busy checking on Balor. McIntyre thwarted Ziggler’s attempt to use a chair against him and took Ziggler inside the ring. After both of them thrashed each other on ladder multiple times, Lashley tried to climb the ladder but Elias came back and powerbombed Lashley on another ladder. He started to climb the ladder but Lio Rush ran up the other side.  Elias shoved him off and got the guitar for the win. Back in the ring, Rush jumped on Elias’s back and Lashley hit a chokeslam. Baron Corbin was massacred by a group of superstars who helped Braun Strowman to an easy win and get a shot at WWE universal championship at Royal Rumble Main Event. As Corbin came out hoping for an easy win against injured Strowman in a no-disqualification match, the referee of the match Heath Slater, Apollo Crews, Raw Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Chad Gable, Finn Bálor (Corbin pissed off all of these in last few weeks at RAW) surrounded him and decimated Corbin with chairs. Corbin tried to escape by getting out of the ring but Kurt Angle was present there to stop him. Angle hit Corbin with the chair and put him back in the ring where he faced every wrestler’s finishing move. Finally, Strowman came into the ring putting his leg over Corbin as Heath Slater counted to three. With this loss, Corbin is no longer the general manager of RAW

Rey Mysterio def. Randy Orton (Chairs Match)

To call this one as the match with the best use of chairs in the whole event would be an understatement. Mysterio used the chairs to dominate the initial phase of the match but soon Orton started to grow into the match as the match moved outside the ring. After dealing some painful blows using chairs, Orton set up 4 chairs in a row as he went for the RKO. But Mysterio countered and superkicked Orton into the chairs. Then he surprised Orton Rey and pinned him down with a victory roll into winning what was a brutal match.

Asuka def. Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair become new SmackDown women’s champion
Ronda Rousey’s intervention helped Asuka to clinch the SmackDown Women’s Championship. In a match where Lynch and Flair were at full blow against each other, Asuka took her time to recover. So much so that a couple of times it felt like a match between only Flair and Lynch. And the match perfectly summed up the main event TLC as all three of them brutalized each other with tables, ladders, and chairs. But Asuka was appeared to be taken out the game as Flair and Lynch tried to climb the ladder. At the same time, Ronda marched down to the ring and tipped over their ladder to send them plummeting down to earth before making her exit without a word. WWE Champion Daniel Bryan def. AJ Styles
WWE Champion Daniel Bryan def. AJ Styles

Behind all the gimmicks, antics and trickery of “The New Daniel Bryan”, the beard is still a meticulous fighter. As both the superstars neutralize each other for most of the match, Styles was more aggressive and safe while Bryan was more crafty and devious. Each of them had their periods of domination but none could stamp their complete authority over the match. Bryan tried to attack Styles’ chest and also tried to injure his leg leading to a series of locks and counter locks from both of them. And the match ended in a similar fashion. Styles set up for the Phenomenal Forearm in the ring but Bryan ducks. AJ rolled him up and Daniel reversed the momentum to get the pin and the win.
