Roman Reigns vs Rey Mysterio WWE SmackDown 18 June 2021

WWE SmackDown episode of 18 June 2021 will feature the first-ever Hell in a Cell match on SmackDown. Two more matches are advertised for the go-home edition of Hell in a Cell 2021 PPV. Let’s check more details in the preview.

Event Name – WWE Friday Night SmackDown
Date – 18 June 2021
Location – Yuengling Center, Tampa, FL, US
Time – 8 PM EST(19 June 2021 12 AM GMT/5:30 AM IST)

Roman Reigns vs Rey Mysterio – Hell in a Cell Match for Universal Championship

Roman Reigns was supposed to defend the Universal title at Hell in a Cell PPV. But Rey Mysterio wants to have a crack at him tonight itself. And the match is now shifted to SmackDown, which will be the first-ever Hell in a Cell match at SmackDown.

It is not clear why the match is brought forward to SmackDown. Probably, there might be some other plan for Roman for Hell in a Cell. Or that WWE wants some other match inside Hell in a Cell. Tune in to SmackDown to find out.

Otis vs Angelo Dawkins

Otis did not take Street Profits disrespecting Chad Gable lightly and took down Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins. Last week, Alpha Academy was supposed to face Street Profits in a tag team match. But Gable got that match canceled for some peace talks with Profits.

However, another argument led to a singles match between Gable and Ford. An angry Otis attacked Dawkins backstage and then injured Ford with a brutal attack during his match against Gable. This week, the storyline will continue with Dawkins taking on Otis.

Commander Azeez & Apollo Crews vs Kevin Owens & Big E

Apollo Crews had it enough when Sami Zayn lost another match as his tag team partner. Big E & Kevin Owens are fed up with Commander Azeez interfering in their matches. So, all of these will lead to Commander Azeez’s in-ring debut on tonight’s SmackDown.

The quartet feud is already going on for more than 2 months now, and Big E vs Crews feud started back in January. It will be a good development if this could somehow lead to this feud ending here.

Baron Corbin vs Shinsuke Nakamura – Battle of the Crown

Nakamura lost his match against Baron Corbin a few weeks back but snatched him King or the Ring. Since then, they have battled in singles matches each week with both men winning 2 matches each. However, Corbin’s every attempt to take the crown back from Nakamura has ended in a failure.

This week, Corbin and Nakamura will face-off in their fifth singles match to complete the series of five matches between them. The winner will also get the crown officially, in what is being termed as the “Battle of the Crown.” Who do you think will come on the top?

One of the main factors that have always worked in favor of Nakamura is the presence of Rick Boogs. Everytime Corbin seems to be getting hold of the crown, Boogs have helped out Nakamura in some manner to get the crown back. Will Baron Corbin also get someone to help him against Nakamura and Boogs. Some one from NXT?

More Build-up for Hell in a Cell

With the Roman vs Rey match shifting to SmackDown, the only match from SmackDown is currently on Hell in a Cell match card – Bianca Beliar vs Bayley match for SmackDown Women’s Championship. This means that we can expect atleast one more match from SmackDown’s side to be added to the card.

Which one will it be? Seth Rollins vs Cesaro comes to mind. What other matches you could see getting added to the PPV card?

Keep tuned in for the results and updates from WWE SmackDown episode later tonight.
