WWE SmackDown episode of March 17, 2023, will feature a qualifier for Intercontinental Championship for WrestleMania 39 with just two weeks to go for this year’s biggest show.

Friends Collide for a Place at WrestleMania
Last week, WWE booked a fatal 5-way match to determine the challenger for WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39. So it happened that Drew McIntyre and Sheamus ended up covering Karrion Kross and Xavier Woods with two different referees counting the pins for them and they each declared Sheamus & McIntyre as the winner.
WWE now had two challengers for one spot. So, to mitigate the situation, WWE has booked a singles match between McIntyre and Sheamus to determine the final challenger for Gunther. McIntyre and Shaemus have gone from being friends to archrivals, back to being tag team partners and now back to being rivals. Where does their story go from here?
Sami Zayn Confronts Jey Uso
Just when Sami Zayn thought Jey Uso is by his side, Jey nailed him with superkick and sided with his brother Jimmy. He is now set to appear on SmackDown March 17 episode to confront Jey over his actions. While Jey was not fond of Sami initially, he became a staunch supporter and slashed his ties from the Bloodline when they turned on Sami. He explained his side last week over his turn on Sami. But, Sami still have some questions.
Roman Reigns is set to appear on RAW next week. So, The Bloodline might try to iron out chinks in their armour before the arrival of The Tribal Chief. Sami Zayn was absent from RAW where Solo Sikoa beat Kevin Owens in a street fight. Will Sami and Owens continue to fight their battles separately? Or will they finally come on the same page?
What Else to Expect?
For the last two weeks, Dominik Mysterio has tried to enrage his father Rey Mysterio into hitting him. Rey has kept his ground and refused to hit his son. Will that change this week?
WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair got some ring work just days before her title defense against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania. Will she be in action once again this week?
