NXT Takeover: XXV Preview, Match Card, Predictions, Storyline, Time
3. Johnny Gargano(c) vs Adam Cole – NXT Championship
Storyline- Ever since his loss to Gargano at Takeover: New York, Adam Cole keeps bringing up the point that he got the first fall in that match until Gargano finally challenged him for the rematch at Takeover: XXV. In between and even after the match was announced, Gargano had to deal with whole Undisputed Era every week with some help from Matt Riddle.
Prediction- Gargano’s character arc, which culminated with him winning the title in April, was something. And to take the title away from him in the very next defense would not be a good thing. Although I would love to see Adam Cole to become the champion, he might have to wait for a bit longer. Gargano to win this one again.
4. The Undisputed Era(Bobby Fish and Kiely O’Reilly) vs The Forgotten Sons(Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) vs Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs The Street Profits – Ladder Match, NXT Tag Team Championship
Storyline- Last NXT Tag Team Champions moved on to the main roster and were planning to relinquish the title. The Street Profits challenged them but the match ended in Disqualification after interruption from the Forgotten Sons. NXT General Manager William Regal announced last week that a ladder match will take place between the four teams to determine the next champion.
Prediction- Adam Cole might be again losing to Gargano and to give some credibility to the Undisputed Era, they might win this one. Street Profits are also good challengers but I don’t think it’s their time yet.
5. Matt Riddle vs Rodrick Strong
Storyline- Matt Riddle’s undefeated streak was broken by Velveteen Dream at Takeover: New York and the feud was dropped there itself. He moved on to the program to become a quasi-partner for Johnny Gargano in his feud with the Undisputed Era. After Riddle made the save on Gargano last month, he was attacked backstage by Strong in the next episode. Their match was announced during last week’s NXT episode, after which Riddle was pinned in the tag team match with the interruption from Strong.
Prediction- Riddle’s streak was broken at last Takeover and to give him another loss could be harmful to him. But a win is also necessary for Rodrick Strong to become a credible name in NXT and I am hoping that he will get the win here.
