Three weeks apart, another WWE PPV comes around. This will be the fourth WWE PPV in space of 9 weeks. And once again, WWE themselves would not be convinced that they have given a proper build to the card. The card looks good apart from the mixed tag team match and the Roman Reigns/Undertaker vs Shane and Drew McIntyre. The ticket sales were slow until last week. Since WWE has introduced 2 on 1 free ticket, the sales have improved and they are expecting at least 90% occupancy. On that note, let’s look at the matches announced for Extreme Rules and bring out some predictions.

Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch(c) vs Baron Corbin & Lacey Evans – Winner Takes All Universal & RAW Women’s Championship, Extreme Rules Match

Universal & RAW Women’s Championship, Mixed Tag Team Match, Extreme Rules 2019

Storyline- Becky has already successfully defended the RAW Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans twice by the time Stomping Grounds’ main event came. While everyone was speculating on various names for the special guest referee in the Rollins vs Corbin match, WWE caught everyone off-guard by putting Lacey Evans as the referee.

Rollins won the match at Stomping Grounds when Becky came out to take care of Evans. But that was not it. Evans and Corbin still cried over it and fixed the double title match. The match is also their last chance to get their hands over the title. If they lose here, Corbin and Evans will not get another title shot as long as Rollins and Becky would be champions.

Prediction- Lacey Evans and Baron Corbin are not the stars that WWE can individually take chance over, let along collectively. So, the Champion couple will remain the champions.

Drew Gulak(c) vs Tony Nese – WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

Storyline- Drew Gulak pinned Akira Tozawa in the triple threat match at Stomping Grounds. Tony Nese, who was the champion at the time, was never pinned. But he was made to face Akira Tozawa once again to become the no. 1 contender.

Prediction- We have not seen continuous changes for the Cruiserweight Championship since the inception of 205 Live. On top of that, Tony Nese was a fighting champion but was pretty bland. So, expecting Drew Gulak to retain the title here.

Braun Strowman vs Bobby Lashley – Last Man Standing Match

Storyline- These two actually have a long feud. After uncountable tag team encounter, they faced off at Super ShowDown. Strowman came on top on the day and then in the Arm-Wrestling match and tug of war.

In between, there were 4-way and 5-way matches also. The latest bout between them was the Falls Count Anywhere match where Strowman tackled Lashley through the stage LED board. The next time they face off, it will be in the last man standing match.

Prediction- Expect Braun Strowman came on top at Extreme Rules as he has in each and every one-on-one match between these two.

Daniel Bryan & Rowan(c) vs The New Day(Xavier Woods & Big E) vs Heavy Machinery – WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship, Triple Threat Match

Storyline- The Heavy Machinery put on a great show at Stomping Grounds in their loss against the champions. They have continued the momentum since then with back to back wins at SmackDown. The New Day pinned the Champions in an Elimination Match at RAW two weeks back and hence got the title shot.

Prediction- With the momentum that both New Day and Heavy Machinery are carrying with them, it will not be out of ordinary if any of them wins the title at Extreme Rules. But the way Daniel Bryan is talking about raising the tag team division, I am expecting his title reign will continue.

Ricochet(c) vs AJ Styles – United States Championship Match

Storyline- The seeds of this rivalry were sown as soon as Ricochet became the US champ and the Club trio interrupted his photo session. They faced off at RAW two weeks back where AJ Styles came on top. Last week, Anderson and Gallows tried to turn Styles against Ricochet. And it worked out fine when Styles eventually turned on Ricochet.

Prediction- Ricochet is in the middle of a major push and I believe WWE is setting up the heel AJ Styles for Seth Rollins eventually. So, I am expecting Ricochet to retain the title. But it might not be a straight loss for Styles. Something on the line of Extreme Rules 2016 when the Usos helped out Roman Reigns against the Club.
