It was announced last week that the real-life couple Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch will put their titles on the line in a mixed tag team match against both Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans. There was already a big stipulation added to the bout, that if Corbin and Evans are unable to win the titles in their third attempt, they will not get another title shot.

Seth Rollins first defended the Universal Championship against Baron Corbin at Super ShowDown. Corbin was found arguing with the referee John Cone throughout that match for his lax attitude. The end of the match also came when Corbin was once again getting into Cone’s face and Rollins took advantage of the distraction to roll him up.

They faced off once again at Stomping Grounds where Corbin got to choose a special guest referee. The referee’s identity was kept as a surprise until before the match and it turned out to be Lacey Evans. Evans provided an unfair advantage to Corbin multiple times during the match. That was until Becky Lynch came out and took her down. After the replacement referee came, Rollins was able to hit the stomp and got the win.

Becky Lynch and Lacey Evans have been feuding ever since WrestleMania this year. After multiple brawls, they first faced off at Money in the Bank where Becky successfully defeated Evans to retain the RAW Women’s Title. However, interference from Lacey resulted in Charlotte Flair beating Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

They once again battled at Stomping Grounds, where, once again, Becky made the short work of Evans. Evans got the perfect opportunity to take revenge on Becky when she tried to screw over Rollins. Now, WWE had decided to merge both storylines and fixed the double title mixed tag team match at Extreme Rules 2019.
