2 #1 Contender & Gauntlet Matches Set for NXT New Year’s Evil
A battle royal, a number 1 contender match for North American title and a Guantlet match are revealed for varied line-up for WWE NXT New Year’s Evil 2023 special on January 10, 2023.
The card will feature a 20-woman battle royal. The winner will get a chance to challenge Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship on NXT Vengeance Day on February 4th.
Further, a #1 contender match is also set for New Year’s Evil special between Dijak and Tony D’Angelo, where the winner goes up against Wes Lee, the NXT North American Champion, for the title.
Dijak defeated Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo this week. After the match, Tony(Stacks’ boss) challenged Dijak to a match. Dijak also stopped Stacks from interfering in Tony’s title shot last week against Wes Lee. It was Lee who added the #1 contender stipulation to this match.
Pretty Deadly asked for a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championship but New Day kept handing them random tasks to complete. After getting fed up with this, Pretty Deadly told New Day that they will face three teams in a Gauntlet Match next week. And, if they win, they want a shot at tag team titles.
Charlie Dempsey will face Hank Walker next week. He challenged Drew Gulak last week, but that match never took place due to an injury to Dempsey. Dempsey got agitated on watching Gulak beating Andre Chase and challenged Walker next week.
NXT Championship match between Bron Breakker and Grayson Waller was already announced for WWE NXT New Year’s Evil episode. Indus Sher will face The Creed Brothers in a tag team match.
