UFC Seoul Shifted to Apex Arena, Lewis vs Spivak to Headline
UFC Fight Night 218 or Fight Night Seoul, slated for February 4, 2023, is now shifted to UFC Alex Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
UFC announced on Thursday that Derrick Lewis vs Sergey Spivac heavyweight bout is rescheduled for February 4’s Fight Night event. The change in location was confirmed by Marcel Dorff.
UFC Seoul was expected to be one of the four international events from UFC in the first quarter of 2023. However, the event was missing from the video package from UFC which announced its slate of events in early 2023.
The reason for the shift in location for February 4’s UFC event remains unclear. However, the reason might be related to Chan Sung Jung. “The Korean Zombie” announced a shoulder injury recently which ruled him out of appearing on February 4 event. It is likely that UFC decided to reschedule the event when he becomes available in future.
Derrick Lewis vs Sergey Spivac was scheduled to headline another Fight Night on November 19, 2022. Both men made weight for the event, but the fight was called off while the event was ongoing. Later, it was revealed that Lewis fell ill in the lead-up to the event.
Lewis lost both of his fights in 2022 as he got knocked out by Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich in back-to-back fights. On the opposite side, Spivac enters the bout with two wins in a row against Greg Hardy and Augusto Sakai.
Many fighters based from South and East Asia were scheduled to be on the card on February 4. It remains to be seen how many of them will still be taking part at the event. Keep tuned in for more details.
