UFC 285: Cody Garbrandt Faces Julio Arce in Return to 135 lbs

Cody Garbrandt and Julio Arce will get a chance to break their respective losing streaks when they clash at UFC 285 PPV.

The news comes from Eurosport’s Marcel Dorff who is reported that Garbrandt, a former UFC bantamweight Champion will take on Arce at UFC 285 PPV. Both fighters have signed for the bout and UFC is likely to reveal the bout in the coming days.

The bout will mark Garbrandt’s return to the bantamweight division. Both Garbrandt and Arce also have challenges to break their losing streaks.

Cody Garbrandt has just one win since dropping Bantamweight title to TJ Dillashaw in 2017. He lost the title rematch to Dillashaw in 2018 before another loss to Pedro Munhez at UFC 235. He defeated Raphael Assunção at UFC 250 before main event loss to Rob Font at a Fight Night in 2020.

Garbrandt then moved down to the Flyweight division to face Kai Kara-France at UFC 269, but could not manage to get a win. He was supposed to face Rani Yayha at a Fight Night event on July 9, and then on October 1 this year. But, Yayha pulled out on both occasions. Garbrandt also suffered a training injury after that.

Julio Arce has been trading wins and losses in his last 4 bouts since moving to bantamweight from featherweight. He defeated Andre Ewell at a Fight Night event on July 24, 2021, before suffering a loss to Song Yadong later in 2021.

Arce then defeated Daniel Santos at UFC 273 before suffering another loss to Montel Jackson at UFC 281 in his most recent bout.

UFC 285 will air on March 4, 2022, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
