Kelvin Gastelum was supposed to return to welterweight with this bout after seven long years. He moved to middleweight in 2016, and after a few years, he received a title shot against Israel Adesanya as well.
On the other hand, Shavkat Rakhmonov is a sixth-ranked welterweight and is also having an undefeated run in the UFC. He is coming off a third-round submission win against Geoff Neal at UFC 285.
Now, it remains to be seen whether UFC finds a new opponent for Shavkat or they decide to postpone this bout.
